During the interview, Moore displayed a commendable mix of humility and determination. When queried about the transition from being under the tutelage of the former Michigans’ coach, Harbaugh, to leading the program himself, he paid homage to the legend. Acknowledging the emotional weight of the moment, he claimed, “I got mad love for him and will always respect him. I’ve learned so much from him but I’m going to run the program my way”.
While expressing his deep respect and admiration for Harbaugh, Moore ensures to stick to his individuality and own set of plans. He showcased his commitment to upholding the storied traditions of the Wolverines and amalgamating them in his coaching style, “We’re still going to be tough, we’re still going to be smart, we’re going to be dependable, we’re going to be relentless and in everything, we do continue the energy.”
With players leaving for the NFL draft, Moore is leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of top-tier talent for the Wolverines on assuming the new coaching title. Moore’s journey for his new recruits began in the football-rich state of Texas where Top 100 defensive back, Dorian Brew caught his attention. However, Brew’s decision was postponed and he continued his recruitment odyssey in Oklahoma. Setting his foot at Washington High School, Moore targeted the highly-rated four-star tight-end Nate Roberts. Later on, Roberts’ Twitter post that expressed gratitude towards the coach signaled the players’ high prospects into the Wolverines squad.
With Moore’s successful substitution of Harbaugh during the last year in Michigan’s troubling times, most recruitment prospects are completely behind his selection. In addition to players, Moore is also looking for a new defensive coordinator and he is reportedly promoting tight ends coach Grant Newsome to offensive line coach.
