A lot of focus and effort went into the Colorado Buffaloes’ offense this season. Deion Sanders is trying to change a program that has lacked speed in recent years by adding some speedy transfers like Dylan Edwards. But as he hit the transfer portal and found a new home in Kansas State, the Buffs were still left with an agility weapon in Jimmy Horn Jr.

Brought up in Sanford, Florida, Jimmy Horn Jr. attended Seminole High School where he caught 42 passes for 736 yards with nine TDs. He also rushed for 196 yards and three TDs as a senior. He started his college career at South Florida for two seasons before joining Deion Sanders in Colorado for the 2023 season. During his time with the Buffs’, his talent shone and captivated people including Deion Sanders Jr.

Deion Sanders Jr. couldn’t keep the interest to himself as he recorded Jimmy Horn’s practice during the latest YouTube episode on Well Off Media. Not someone to give out easy compliments, Coach Prime’s oldest son’s approval usually carried a heavy weight as he said, “Your steps be as fast as hell… Your acceleration is crazy bro. It’s next level bro. I ain’t gonna lie to you.” The compliment brought Horn’s ambitions to the surface as he said, “I’m coming for that 4.21.”

4.21 is the new record for the fastest time taken to complete the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Former Texas star WR Xavier Worthy locked this record in 2024 becoming the fastest player to ever participate in the run. After his impressive accomplishment, he entered the NFL Draft and was selected by one of the top professional teams that have won two back-to-back Super Bowls. The Kansas City Chiefs selected Worthy in round one at No. 28 where his speed weapon can assist QB Patrick Mahomes in the running game. Jimmy Horn Jr. may still not have Worthy’s speed but he’s nearly there and has proved himself in a particular testing drill.

Recording 4.21 in a 40-yard dash isn’t an easy feat but for a speedy player like Jimmy Horn Jr., it’s not an unattainable goal. During a previous Buffs’ test drill that included the 40-yard dash to high jump, the 21-year-old proved his worth in the running game. The 5’10, 170-pounder and Dylan Edwards finished the 40-yard run in 4.38, raising hopes for the Buffs.

Edwards may have left the program but Jimmy Horn Jr. is here to finish what he started in Colorado. Last season, he played and started in every game totaling 58 receptions, 567 receiving yards, and six TDs, all of which are phenomenal achievements for the program. Horn Jr. still has more time to brush up his running skills and hopefully, he’ll make Colorado proud one day when he achieves his dream.
