When the players at the University of San Diego got to know that Jim Harbaugh was going to take the lead as the coach in 2004, shocked was the reaction they had. He had worked for two years as a quarterback coach in the NFL after 14 seasons as a player where he earned his name, Captain Comeback. Before the coach had arrived, San Diego had won one game against their biggest arch-rival University of Dayton. After Jim came into the scene, he won his first matchup of 2004 38 to 35 with a star interception by Bakhtiari who had come into coverage to pick off the quarterback of Dayton’s Brandon Staley.

Now the fact is that Jim Harbaugh and Staley had a connection that is not known by a lot of people. This was recently revealed on Twitter and even Shawne Lights Out Merriman was shocked to know the truth.

Shawne Merriman was astonished to know about this little titbit and wrote, “Ain’t no way this is true lol @CommunityNotes I need answers.” The post at the share buy The football linebacker said, “In 2004 Jim Harbaugh’s San Diego State Toreros beat the Dayton Flyer’s 38-35 after Dayton Quarterback Brandon Staley’s game-ending interception.”

Harbaugh’s head coaching career started with Universal San Diego where he let the program for five years to the end of the season. In the next two seasons, he had a flawless record of 11-1. He replaced Walt Harris to become a head coach at Stanford University in 2007. 

2011 marked the year when Jim Harbaugh finally stepped into the world of the NFL for the first time. After winning the Orange Bowl, he shook hands with the 49ers for a five-year contract of $25 million.

Brandon was the head coach of the Chargers for parts of three seasons before he was let go in December. So the relationship that he shares with Harbaugh is pretty strained because Harbaugh had replaced him. This was because the team lost under Staley against the Las Vegas Raiders by 42-0. Jim Harbaugh was also dissed by Shawne Merriman recently.

Shawne Merriman against Harbaugh?

Right now in the landscape of the NFL, Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick are the top prospects, according to many. However, they will be ruled out according to Merriman, who was a former Chargers star. He had worked very closely with the franchise for five seasons and understands the present needs of the team. According to him, the team needs a coach who resonates with the players and not just the playing patterns.

As both a former Chargers player if the organization was to hire Jim Harbaugh, the age gap would end up giving the same issue to another form. “I just don’t see Bill Belichick as the right move,” according to the former LB.

The main concern of the star player was about Justin Herbert’s potential going to waste. He was also afraid that the older coaches would not be resourceful about this.
