The 15th of November 2023 is a red letter day in Jimbo Fisher’s long career. It was the date when Jimbo Fisher who has an overall record of 45-25 with the side over six seasons was told to move on. The moment was surely heartbreaking and one that was done with a $75 million buyout caused a storm in the media. Now months later, Fisher reflected back on the same and surprised everyone with a huge revelation. “I mean you’re talking about 50, 70, 75, 80 people that can lose jobs right? And the changeovers and everything that goes on, that’s the people you’re sad for. I feel like I let them down, they’re counting on me to have those jobs.”
This was an emotional ex-HC who pointed out that he believed he let the entire support staff down! While this was a glaring insight and one that tells about Fisher’s love for the side, it also highlights the tangibles of the game. The Broyles Assistant Coach of the Year awardee stressed how the support staff with yearly contracts faced a stiff situation once he was sacked. But one thing’s for sure, Fisher has made peace with whatever happened with the entire Texas scenario.

The 58-year-old tasted success with different teams and made the Texas side into an invincible outfit. However, his regular failures to compete for Southeastern Conference titles over six seasons led to his firing. He responded to the buyout with a wide chuckle saying- “Thank you! Hey, I’m not complaining.” In hindsight Aggies were playing well, they were en route to making 9-4 on the trot but the player injuries made things difficult.
However, Fisher wasn’t affected by the indifference of opinions and gleefully accepted the decision. He spoke to the panelists on the “Pardon My Take” podcast regarding the same. “Hey, that’s it and that’s their choice and that’s what they make, I wish them the best and I hope those kids have success.”
