Warrеn Sapp is furious! Back in March, thе Hall of Famеr joined Dеion Sandеrs and the Buffaloеs as a graduatе assistant coach—a promise hе made to Coach Prime back in Dеcеmbеr. Sincе thеn, Sapp has bееn dееply committеd to molding thе young Buffs as thеy gеar up for thе 2024 NCAA sеason. “Lеt’s go and win thе championship” is thе only mantra Sapp has for thе young athlеtеs this upcoming sеason. Because this season is all about a comeback for the Buffaloes, and Coach Sapp knows that already, given his good bond with Coach Prime even before he joined the team.
Therefore, even though Sapp does not have much to do in his inaugural year with the Buffaloes, he still gives his best to the defensive side with his seasoned expertise as a defensive tackle in the NFL. After all, it all comes down to one mission— building the team in a way that protects Shedeur Sanders at all costs. However, this coach does not tolerate silly mistakes coming in the way of his championship goals!
On the June 26th episode of The Pregame Show Network’s Wednesdays with Warren, Colorado’s new quality analyst coach, Warren Sapp, shared a heated situation where he got really upset at the Buffaloes’ silly errors during training from the summer practice camp. As Warren recounted, the D-line players started making silly mistakes by jumping offside, which really frustrated him. “I am standing down just looking, you know. So the second group comes in… He jumped outside too,” said Sapp. “I got real heated. I said a couple of choice words to them, then I walked off without even saying anything.”

Sapp further added that those mistakes by the Buffaloes made him question himself if he was able to get through to them. “I almost just went into a combustible rage,” added the Buffalo coaching staff. “And then I caught them in the weight room and I said, ‘If you don’t want me here, do what you did today ’cause you got me really questioning whether I am even, you know, getting through to you.'”

Later on, Sapp reflected on his rage and behavior with the student-athletes and realized there should be a balance between his strict and supportive approach. “So maybe there are going to be days like that, you know. But I am gonna love on them, you know, a little bit this week,” Sapp hilariously added. Wеll, what Sapp just said aligns pеrfеctly with Dеion Sandеrs’ vision for thе Buffaloеs program.

During spring practice, when Sanders received a complaint from a university professor about his players’ disrespectful behavior in the classroom, he emphasized that the Buffaloes are not just here for the game. They are here to become something more—a “man” who will be mindful, earn their degrees, exhibit good manners, and ultimately dominate on and off the field. “We’re raising men here and not boys!” Sanders declared to his team.
Now, Warren Sapp is reinforcing the same notion as a graduate assistant, emphasizing that there will be setbacks, but the goal is to keep progressing without regressing. “It takes that balance being a coach,” Sapp said, “because it is certainly a process… stacking days and getting a little bit better and not regressing.” With such a united vision, Deion Sanders and his Hall of Fame coaching staff are poised to make this season a significant one, both on and off the field.
