Within 48 hours of Jim Harbaugh leaving Michigan, the university announced Sherone Moore as their next head coach. While Moore already boasts of being Michigan’s head coach for four games when Jim Harbaugh was suspended last season, being the actual head coach has pumped him with aspirations and motivation.

Making an official statement about his new position at Michigan, Moore asserted individuality as he sensed the comparisons between him and former head coach Jim Harbagh coming from a mile away. “I’m just gonna be me. I can’t be Jim Harbaugh. I’ve watched him the last six years, but I can’t be him. I’m going to be myself and be who I am. I’m going to lean on him tremendously with what we’ve built here. If you’re not yourself, you’re going to lose people around you.”

Moore is well aware that topping off a flawless season with a National Championship would be no joke. Along with that, the rumors of other Michigan coaches joining Harbaugh create more issues for him. While Michigan’s defensive coach Jesse Minter is rumored to be joining Harbaugh at the Chargers, Moore is relaxed as the core strength of Michigan is assumably staying at Michigan.

Ben Herbert, the strength and conditioning coach of Michigan, who is accredited to train the teenage boys to professional athletes which is one important reason why Michigan outshined all the other teams this season, is not going to join the Chargers with Harbaugh, per rumors. Moreover, Herbert is paid about $1.6 million by MU, resulting in an equally massive buyout. Along with him, Michigan is also set to pay a hefty amount to Moore.

Moore’s contract extends for five-years, making his whole contract worth $27.5 million. While it is not as insanely lucrative as what Michigan offered Jim Harbaugh, it still places Moore at the sixth-highest position among Big Ten coaches at the end of the last season, per Detroit Free Press. Being well-aware of the impending punishments from the ongoing NCAA investigations, Moore will probably devise a strategy in the off-season, making the team and himself ready to face the shocks and aftershocks of the unpredictable decisions.
