Amidst this situation, in the podcast with DNVR Buffs, Coach Prime justified his sons’ actions. Deion Sanders calls out to whoever sees this coaching action in a negative light commenting. Interestingly, the Buffs HC’s sons are carrying forward the Colorado legacy.

Shedeur and Shilo always have Coach Prime’s back no matter what. The quarterback and cornerback brothers duo has taken to Instagram to recruit transfer portal players. On the podcast, justifying their action, Deion Sanders threw an important question, “When real players wanna jump, they can’t talk to personnel, right? So who do you talk to?” When in union the hosts came up with the answer, the Coach confidently replied, “How stupid are you that they don’t talk to one another that’s when you show who’s who, what’s what..”

On April 17, Shilo posted a story on Instagram giving a call to players hitting the transfer portal. The message was, “DEFENSE TRANSFERS DM ME  OFFENSE TRANSFERS DM @SHEDEUR SANDERS (THIS NOT LAST CHANCE U)”. Through this, Shilo referred to the documentary show that is about junior college athletes on a mission to earn scholarships from top schools. The Instagram post came at the end of the first day of the spring transfer portal with some significant names entering the portal.

Current situation of Colorado amid the transfer portal storm

Cornerback Cormani McClain is the most notable player of the 2023 Buffs roster to hit the portal on April 16. He had been a five-star recruit who amassed 13 total tackles last season. On the defensive side, Sanders’ Colorado lost a couple of key linemen including Devee Harris and Chazz Wallace. There are also reliable names like OL Savion Washington and Isaiah Jatta who have also made their way out of the Buffs squad. Even though Shilo and Shedeur’s attempt to openly call the players through social media may turn out to be a bit odd, Colorado targeting players in the transfer portal has been a ritual.

During his first season with the Buffaloes, Coach Prime brought 51 transfers. Among them were Shilo and Shedeur along with the No.1 recruit of the Class of 2022, Travis Hunter, all three of them followed Sanders’ footsteps from Jackson State to Colorado. Interestingly, the influx of transfers had nothing but only positive results. It helped the Buffaloes improve their win total from one to four in the 2023 season. Even in the last winter portal period, Deion Sanders’ Colorado brought 25 transfers, making it the second-most transfers for all teams in FBS.

But, Coach Prime seems to be lagging in terms of recruiting high school players and has only 11 incoming freshmen from the Class of 2024. Now that the spring transfer portal has hit with full-fledge, Shedeur and Shilo plan to channel their energy in making the best use of social media to help their program.
