No player wishes to down run the team’s chances of getting qualified for knockouts. It’s what the players play for: to make their teams win! However, this wasn’t the case for FSU and perhaps their best player, Jordan Travis. The QB was in stellar form throughout the season. This was until they met North Alabama last Saturday.

Travis aimed for the team’s playoff odds and would have been the perfect farewell for the youngster. But fate had other plans. The player was one of the breakout stars for FSU this year. He scored 20 touchdowns, two interceptions, and nearly 2,800 passing yards. All these stats were nullified as the CFP decided against taking the team to the playoffs.

Crestfallen and heartbroken, Travis gave an official statement saying: “Wish my leg broke earlier” Such was the timing of the injury that it completely derailed FSU’s plans. The team’s exclusion was surprising since the side topped the charts and won the ACC.

Per the CFP Selection Chair Boo Corrigan, the injury played a huge role in the shakeup of things. During the pressers, Corrigan also voiced the same emotions: “A different team than they were in the first 11 weeks.” The CFP chairman, too, believed that the team was a different side than the one before. Corrigan also touched base on the fact that the injury meant that the offense line was completely altered, and there was no scope for a playoff position.

“You can lose a running back, you can lose a receiver, but when you lose a quarterback as dynamic as Jordan Travis, it changes their offense in its entirety and that was a really big factor,” hence ending all of the FSU’s chances.
