Just when everyone thought the Michigan Wolverines were moving on from the sign-stealing scandal, the most recent happening has shocked and infuriated Michigan. Only a few hours before their next game against the Pennsylvania State Nittany Lions, head coach Jim Harbaugh has been served with a severe sentence for the rest of the NCAA season.

Michigan is fighting against the ridiculous decision of suspension by the Big Ten. Their appeal is heard by a veteran judge who was a Michigan graduate. Michigan is inching closer towards the National Championship title with 9-0. Will Jim Harbaugh be there to see and hype his team as they play tonight against Pennsylvania State?

Just after landing in Pennsylvania for their next game, Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines heard the announcement passed by the Big Ten Conference. Michigan President Santa Ono called out Commissioner Tony Petitti’s actions, saying that he is disregarding “the conference’s own handbook.” The team has presented a “temporary restraining order, which would allow him to continue coaching this season,” and it is “being heard by Judge Timothy Connors.”

Michigan is set to face the 8-2 Pennsylvania State, with each game bringing them closer to the hope of becoming the National Champions since 1997. But before the game can even take place, ESPN declared that Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season “amid the ongoing NCAA investigation into the school’s alleged in-person sign-stealing ring.” The order bans the head coach from the sideline on game day, but he can still coach for the other weekdays.

Although the head coach denies all allegations against the sign-stealing scandal, the Big Ten admitted that he was responsible even without concrete evidence. Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Board of Regents requested a restraining order in Washtenaw County. It remains unclear if Judge Timothy Connors will rule.

This may be a first for a college football program to get in a beef with the Big Ten Conference. Earlier this season, Jim Harbaugh served a three-game suspension imposed by the school after recruiting complications. Michigan isn’t happy with the order and threw accusations on the Big Ten of trying to “thwart” their plan of seeking instant help from a judge.

Following the sign-stealing incident, the Big Ten ruled out that Michigan had violated the sportsmanship policy, resulting in “an unfair competitive advantage that compromised the integrity of competition.” As a result, Jim Harbaugh is banned from the next game in Pennsylvania State as well as the next two games. If Michigan wins the games without their head coach, he’ll return for the Big Ten game in Indianapolis.
