“I don’t see a quarterback that’s better than me.” Well, let’s hope this doesn’t come back to bite Shedeur Sanders. With teams all ready for the 2024 season, there’s one big target on everyone’s minds. The Colorado Buffaloes, under Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, have become this goldmine for all the other teams in the Big 12, all ready for the plundering.
Although the team has talented players like Deion’s own son Shedeur and 2-way start Travis Hunter, some bold and maybe slightly outrageous claims by Shedeur or Coach Prime himself are all set to make this a rough season for the Buffs. Fans could’ve thought that maybe Shedeur had calmed down a bit, but nope! Here we are again witnessing another one of his “big claims” and a perfect breakdown of it by Andy Staples.
Shedeur Sander’s bold take

The live On3 show with Andy Staples on 11th July featured a discussion about an interesting video of Shedeur Sanders. In the clip, Carter Bob presented a serious question to the young Sanders: “Do you have an obligation to perform at a different level?” The potential No.1 QB and Heisman Contender replied with something bold. “I’ve been doing that since day one. I remember the first Media day, when I was in HBCU, I said we won’t lose a game. I’m undefeated in the SWAC,” he replied, giving a perfect perspective of the stakes and the fact that he knows what he has to lose if he doesn’t perform on a whole other level.
However, the shocker from the short interview came from another claim that Shedeur made. “I already know what the expectation comes with. I know where everybody’s Super Bowl,” he mentioned. Is Colorado everybody’s Super Bowl game? Are the Buffs the ones fans are waiting on to see rise out of the flames or maybe they want to see them turn to ash? Looks like Andy Staples from On3 had the perfect response. “So is Colorado, everybody’s Super Bowl? Here’s the thing, guys. You think he’s wrong? But he’s not. He’s not wrong on that. Everybody who plays Colorado wants to kick the crap out of Colorado,” Staples commented on his show. It’s a known fact that under Deion Sander’s marketing and overall appeal, Colorado has grown to become a giant.

Staples further clarified this entire scenario. “Like normally, when a team that was 1-11 the year before or 4-8 before, comes to your stadium. You’re like, yeah, this is going to be a boring game. Deion brings so many eyeballs. That everybody Colorado plays wants to beat the living crap out of them,” he remarked. This comes back to the same point; Deion Sanders and his “We coming” stance and all the heavy talks he has done in the media make his team the perfect target for the other camps.
This could get rough

Back in May, when Shedeur and Deion got criticized for their horrendous 4-8 season. Coach Prime clapped back with, “He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going?” He did jump to his son’s defense quickly, but trash-talking after delivering the fans a very “mid” season is very uncalled for. Shedeur Sanders, too, hasn’t held back. When former Colorado player Xavier Smith criticized Deion’s management approach, Shedeur hit back hard, saying, “Ion even remember him tbh. Bro had to be very mid at best.” Even he was given a reality check when the 33rd Team released their Mock Draft list and placed Shedeur in the 8th Spot. Going from potential No. 1 to No. 8 should be a lesson in itself.
Even in 2023, Washington State dragged the Buffs through the mud in a major 56 – 15 loss. Cameron Ward, now in the Hurricanes, gave Shedeur a tough time in that match. Furthermore, the Buffs’ upgraded roster, including top talents like Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horns Jr, and Kaleb Mathis, heightens the stakes. Every game against Colorado is a chance for other teams to shine, making the upcoming 2024 season one of the most anticipated in college football.
