Arch Manning seems to stay put with the Longhorns! Now, the pressure is on for the quarterback, not just from carrying the legendary “Manning” name, but also from the hefty investment the Texas Longhorns made to lure him. Coach Steve Sarkisian famously spent $280,000 on luxury experiences during Manning’s recruiting visit.

While initially expected to start as QB1, Manning found himself behind confident starter Quinn Ewers. It’s been two years since his arrival, and rumors of a potential transfer due to the backup role have started swirling. Now, Texas QB Quinn Ewers himself smashes these rumors.

In a recent interview with Robert Griffin III, Ewers spoke on how this is actually the right thing for Manning. “I think he gains a lot,” Ewers said, addressing the swirling transfer rumors. “He’s got more time to grow his pride and love for the University.”

Ewers then elaborated on the benefits of backing up amidst a squad of top talents. “Obviously, he loves the University and loves Longhorns, But you know kind of being able to sit back and watch it’s different than playing,” he said.

Now, Quinn Ewers is not just a top college quarterback, but also a worthy Heisman contender. Thus, learning from him is definitely a golden opportunity for the 19-year-old Manning. Ewers noted, “I think that he can get a lot of intel from that and then obviously another year to learn the offense and just get more comfortable.” He also concluded his thoughts, stating how it’s the “best situation” for an emerging QB.

Now, Ewers’ these words seem to add weight to Coach Sarkisian’s optimistic outlook. Looks like both the quarterback and coach are determined to shut down transfer rumors.

Sarkisian laughs off Arch Manning’s transfer talk

Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian isn’t fazed by rumors about Arch Manning entering the transfer portal. In a recent interview with Josh Pate, Sarkisian feels like chuckling at the situation. “Everyone’s praising Arch for staying at Texas? Good for Arch! He’s sticking it out with Texas in year two, and that’s part of the process” he said.

Sarkisian boasted how he and the Longhorns are helping Arch Manning become a “great football player and a great leader,” and confidently added, which “he’s going to be.” He went on to explain why Texas is a desirable destination for any athlete, not just Manning. “They’re getting coached up. They’re playing in great schemes” not just that, “They’ve got a great locker room culture.”

Thus the Longhorns offer a well-rounded development experience that’s hard to leave behind. This, he suggests, is why Manning is staying put.
