Jim Harbaugh’s name is on the tip of every person who claims to be a football fan. Ever since the veteran coach transferred from the Michigan Wolverines to the LA Chargers, he remains a hot topic. This time, it was none other than the former WR for the New England Patriots.

The news of Harbaugh’s decision to leave Michigan finally arrived after months of speculation. After 9 glorious seasons, the 60-year-old chose to shift to the NFL in the hopes of a Super Bowl title after conquering the world of college football. Last season, the team at Ann Arbour thoroughly flourished under Harbaugh with a 15-0 score and then finally winning the national title. As such, it is evident that he’s one of the best coaches that the world of football has ever seen. But what kind of a person is he besides being a football coach? Here’s Julian Edelman who described his intricate thoughts about Harbaugh on their first meeting together.

On the latest episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Julian Edelman came on as a guest and talked about his experiences during his career. The 3-time Super Bowl winner talked about Jim Harbaugh and what his first interaction with him looked like.

Edelman iterated his story and said, “I actually met Jim Harbaugh once, during free agency. He is a different cat. This was like in 13. As soon as I walk in, he throws in a dip. I throw in a dip with him and we’re sitting, chewing and we’re just talking. Nothing about really football and out of nowhere, he goes, “What do you want?”

He further continued, “And this is like, the talks have been like Harbaugh and the GM aren’t getting along because Harbaugh’s telling you that. He goes, “What do you want?” I got a coach. I want 12 over two. He goes, “I think we can get that done.”And then we didn’t talk about anything else, and we just sat and talked football stories. Like that’s the kind of guy he is. He’s kind of that ADD in the office where he always has to move. He’s got a little quirkiness to him, but you know for a fact he loves football.”

Thus, the former Michigan coach sets a fine example for coaches in the sport and how they should love the game rather than the money or the points. For further proof of Harbaugh’s passion for football, here’s a story from the former Alabama quarterback, Greg McElroy.

Greg McElroy talks about the time when Jim Harbaugh questioned his love for the game

Greg McElroy, the former quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, is now a renowned commentator in the sport. As such, he is a part of several interactions with notable coaches and players alike. In one such interaction, he recalls meeting Jim Harbaugh and how he severely doubted McElroy’s passion for football.

In McElroy’s own words, “He basically looked at me, and as dry and as direct as you can possibly be, and he said, ‘Oh, you don’t love football?'” McElroy said. “I’m like, ‘No, I love football, I love it. I mean it, football’s amazing, Coach. I work in football, I’m a broadcaster, but I work in football.”

He further added, “And he said, ‘Well, no, no, no. You love football if you play football, and when you’re done playing and you can no longer play, then you coach, and if you don’t coach, then you die.”

Now that Harbaugh has transitioned into the HC of the LA Chargers in the big leagues, he has bigger challenges as a coach as he tries to replicate the success he had with the Wolverines.
