Deion Sanders has reiterated that he won’t be leaving the Buffs for the NFL, but could that change? Since the transfer portal opened the Buffs have experienced an exodus of talent. While Coach Prime played down the departures, his own future is under the scanner. With his son Shedeur likely to leave for the NFL next season, will Deion Sanders follow suit Senior NFL journalist Mike Farrell certainly thinks so.

The rumor that Deion Sanders and his sons will part ways with the Colorado program in 2025 has gained traction, with Farrell, a preeminent figure in the football world, lending his belief to the speculation. Sharing his thoughts on Jason Whitlock’s show Fearless, Farrell made a daring forecast about Prime’s future.

“I think he’s going to be gone,” Farrell said, explaining why he feels this way. The first and most important is the Buffs’ scores for the past seasons. While Prime has stuck with his unconventional approaches, they are considered groundbreaking only when they yield good numbers, which Deion Sanders and Co. heavily struggled with last season. They finished with a record of 4-8 for the year.

Guessing the record Deion Sanders would have with Colorado, Farrell said, “Maybe he leaves with a 7-5 or 8-4 record after this season, but it’s in worse shape than when he got there.” However, that is not the only series of events that has led him to think about Prime moving away from CU. His daughter just transferred out. Shedeur and Shilo are going off to the NFL. He says he’s going to stay there for 5 to 10 more years. Health-wise, I don’t see that happening. I see him as an assistant coach in the NFL next year and he might leave Colorado in worse shape than they were when he arrived,” Farrell added, chipping in his prediction of Prime leaving Colorado in the coming year.Prime’s recurring condition of blood clots, because of which he had to get two of his toes amputated, is something the fans have long speculated to be the reason for his retiring. On the other hand, will a chance to move to the NFL tempt him, considering his sons could soon be plying their trade in the league?

Speaking on the All the Smoke podcast, he said,

“Nah, I don’t want to coach in the NFL. Most people ask me, ‘What you gonna do when they’re out, you’re going to the pros together?’ I said, ‘A real father leads his sons, he doesn’t follow them. So I’m good, I’ll be here. I ain’t going nowhere, I’m straight, I love Boulder, Colorado, and I cannot wait till they go into the NFL and do their thing.”

Last year he was linked with the HC vacancy at Texas A&M, but they instead went with

Mike Elko. Talking about NFL, the Dallas Cowboys were reported to be interested in his services, but Coach Prime openly said he won’t make the move. However, he did mention the scenario can change if his kids move to the team as well. And it appears from his recent comments, that he wants to stay in Colorado despite the massive upheaval recently.

Since early March, at least 14 Buffs players have announced they are leaving the team to enter the transfer portal, but Sanders is unfazed.

“We’re good. I trust the recruiting team. I trust our coaches. Please have some faith in me. We’re good. We’re alright. What happens with the portal, man, and what you guys need to know, a lot of people are fighting for backups,” Sanders said in second news conference of the spring practice season. In midst of all this, his daughter, Shelomi Sanders’s entry into the transfer portal surprised many.

Shelomi Sanders is on her way to finding a new team

Shelomi Sanders, a former Buffs guard, has decided to seek opportunities elsewhere. Her decision comes after appearing for a mere 11 minutes in 5 games this season, clearly indicating her dissatisfaction with the current situation. The transfer of the Jackson State player to Colorado was initially tied to her father’s coaching duties at CU football.

It’s not just Shelomi Sanders who has moved out of Colorado. Several freshers and sophomores like Brianna McLeod, freshman Mikayla Johnson, and freshman Jadyn Atchison have entered the transfer portal out of the Buffs.

Shelomi’s move, however, raises some speculation mainly because of what Farrell highlighted. Does Shelomi Sanders moving out mean something big for Coach Prime as well? Do let us know what you think.
