Can Shedeur Sanders and Coach Prime finally silence the relentless critics of the CU Buffs?

Absolutely no one can touch No. 2! Remember the last season when Shedeur Sanders became the most-sacked quarterback of the season? He took a whopping 52 sacks, showing how badly the Colorado Buffaloes‘ offensive line struggled. It’s believed the QB even had to take pain-numbing injections just to get back on the field. Not wanting a repeat of that, Coach Prime brought in a 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive tackle to protect his often-hit son.

The massive Kahlil Benson arrived in Boulder last year, creating the catchy slogan “DT2 – Don’t touch 2,” referring to Shedeur’s jersey number. The offensive tackle’s mother, LaTonya Benson, assures fans this isn’t just a marketing ploy.

“My son knows his mama means business,” she said on a live show. “He loves the game. He’s my gentle giant, but he knows what it means to protect and be that dawg.” Mama Benson raved about Kahlil’s soft heart and love for his teammates, explaining, “He loves the gang. He loves football. And Kahlil is a family guy. So the DT2 or protecting two… he means that!” This sounds like a strong validation for the OT.

Now, Kahlil’s dedication is quite evident, too. During practice last month, he was seen yelling, “I’ll be damned if we give up fifty-something sacks this year!” He even built a brand around the DT2 motto, creating a line of sports merchandise. “I’m ready to hit the field and protect @shedeursanders,” he said before the merch launch. “The DT2 brand is all about my commitment to making sure no one touches our QB!”

It’s not just Benson who’s on board with the DT2 mission. Even Coach Prime is out to shut down all the doubters who trash-talked the Buffs last year.

Coach Prime is making changes to the O-line for Shedeur Sanders

Have an interesting take?

Coach Prime saw many players leave his team but brought in just as many to Boulder. Several critics bashed him for his recruiting tactics, especially since he did something similar last year and ended up with a 4-8 season. However, this year feels different for Deion. The Buffs head coach isn’t messing around with his quarterback’s safety. He’s built a massive wall around Shedeur Sanders with a revamped offensive line.

Kahlil Benson, a 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive tackle, already embodies this commitment with his “DT2 – Don’t Touch 2” motto. But Benson won’t be alone. Deion’s recruiting strategy brought in five new offensive linemen, averaging a whopping 339 pounds and 6′ 6″ in height. The entire nine-man scholarship unit is still a “massive” force, averaging 6’5″ and 296 pounds.

Now, the early signs are promising, too. This new, stronger unit has already impressed in training alongside Shedeur. With the regular season approaching, the question is: will the revamped offense lead to success for the Buffs? Shedeur seems determined to make the offseason count, even practicing during his holiday trip. Will the new O-line help him this time?
