Deion Sanders made a tremendous impact on the Colorado college football scene in his first year after his arrival by turning the program around and boosting its social stature. So, it goes without saying that the 56-year-old has his fair share of supporters and critics, and among some of his staunch critics is Jason Brown aka Coach JB.
When Deion Sanders first arrived in Colorado with his own luggage of players from JSU, Coach JB approved of his style when he told the existing players to hit the portal saying “I can dig it.” But as the season commenced and progressed from good to worse, and Coach Prime’s confidence continued to soar, Brown felt it was time to calm down. See what he said of Deion Sanders and his untainted confidence.

In a recent YouTube episode on The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty, Brown took a dig at Deion Sanders’ coaching style that did his sons Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders more harm than good last season. In his angry banter, he stated that most of Colorado’s fall from grace came from Coach Prime’s confidence and pride that marked them as a target for criticism. He stated, “For some reason, he has put his kids in harm’s way.”
Shedeur Sanders exited last season as the most sacked QB suffering 52 sacks. Shilo Sanders, meanwhile, was ejected from their game against UCLA for “targeting” Bruins RB Carsen Ryan. According to JB, Coach Prime has set a target on Colorado because he can’t stop talking and hyping the crowd with things like “We coming” and “Get it now” despite falling 4-8 under everyone’s expectations. He added, “You have to understand this game will swallow you and spit you out. For some reason, a man of Deion stature that’s been a great legendary player, for some reason, doesn’t understand that.” And this isn’t the only time Coach JB has slammed Deion Sanders for the fall of their program.

Coach JB blames Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders for dismissing Sean Lewis
Shedeur Sanders previously admitted in an interview with DNVR that former Buffs OC Sean Lewis’ coaching style didn’t translate well with his preferences, emphasizing the complexity of “choice routes.” He also conceded that Lewis’ coaching technique barred the receivers from making crucial reads while putting pressure on him to anticipate plays.

Following this admission, Coach JB hurled his opinion saying, “I know Sean Lewis and I know what he is about as an OC.” Brown even went as far as to say that both Deion Sanders and his son “threw that man under the bus.” Shedeur Sanders managed to finish the season with 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns despite missing the final game. Now with Pat Shurmur as the new OC, the 2024 season gives critics another reason to target the QB’s plays.
