While also stating Mike McDonald’s name, who was a DC for Michigan in 2021, this is what Klatt had to say. He said, “Who’s the extension of Mike McDonald and Jesse Minter? The defense in a large way is just as much a part of the identity of this program as the run game and because of that, you’ve gotta hold on to both. That’ll be difficult for Sherrone. Because he’s gonna have to find someone. You can’t run a different defense. I think those players would look at you with their eyes crossed. We’re not running a different defense. We just beat Ohio State 3 straight times!”
He added, “So they’re gonna need to find who the extension of Mike McDonald and Jesse Minter they can bring in and coordinate the defense and keep it on the rails in terms of how dominant they have been over the last couple of years, specifically this last year. The difficulty for him? He’s gonna want nothing to change at Michigan and yet, everything has to change. How can both of those be true? Well, Sherrone has to keep the culture, the systems, and everything in place- and yet, he cannot be Jim Harbaugh.”
Thus, as Moore prepares to lead the reigning champions for another title this year, it is a surety that it won’t come easy to him in his debut season. Moreover, the fans have expressed their lack of confidence in him ever since his words about Ben Herbert reportedly came out as untrue.

In response to these rumors, Moore expressed his belief and convinced fans that he was optimistic about Herbert’s decision to stay with the team. The newly appointed coach will have a lot to deal with ever since Harbaugh left, but at the end of the day, these challenges are what will make him a good coach. Even if he can’t seem to lift the national trophy next season, Moore will surely prove his worth as a coach on his career’s biggest stage yet.
