Colorado has already secured a five-star OT Jordan Seaton into their 2024 roster, but things could spice up a bit. Coach Prime Deion Sanders has been keeping fans intrigued since the recruitment started with cryptic hints. Could another five-star addition be the ultimate Prime surprise? The Buffs HC has stated the team’s need for an experienced QB who can make an immediate impact. And now speculations arise as the 6’3 Belleville high school football player is set to announce his college commitment on 6 January.

With the bonding that’s happening over the last season, would Colorado bag the valuable 2025 class QB? Coach Prime could look to this player, who had 37 touchdowns last year, as the long-term replacement for star QB Shedeur Sanders who is set to play his final college season this upcoming fall.

In the latest discussion by RK and Jake on the DNVR CU Buffs podcast on YouTube, the duo brought up their theories about Bryce Underwood being Shedeur Sanders’ replacement. RK said of the 5-star QB, “We didn’t get the Coach Prime surprise on signing day. Maybe this is the one they have up their sleeves.”

Jake also has his theories about Bryce Underwood as a potential Colorado commit. He pointed out, “He came and visited for that CSU game. That’s the same game that Jordan Seaton came and visited. And he took a leading picture with Coach Prime because he’s at the wall.” He added, “The fans were chanting his name, they had his name on signs. He was in the press conference room with Shedeur after the game. It seems like he really built a relationship with not only Coach Prime and Shedeur but he was there with Jordan Seaton.

If Underwood commits to Colorado, he could be in line to start immediately in 2025 with Sanders playing his last college season in the fall of 2o24. Sanders established himself as the star at Colorado in his debut game that would down in the Buffaloes history. The young QB broke nine Colorado records in a single game, throwing for 510 yards and four touchdowns as his side beat TCU 45-42. Shedeur became the first Colorado QB to surpass the 500-yard mark in a single game.

In 2o23, Sanders recorded the most passing yards (3,230) and second most passing touchdowns (27) in CU history in a single season. Moreover, he had the highest completion percentage (69.3%) in CU history in one season. As such, replacing him at the Buffs won’t be an easy task but Underwood may be up for the challenge given his high school record.

Given the speculations above, there is a chance that Bryce Underwood could be a part of Coach Prime’s Buffs and seen as a long term replacement for Shedeur Sanders. Colorado is among the seven teams beckoning the elite QB’s presence – Alabama, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, and Florida State. But LSU remains a favorite for Underwood to land. According to On3’s recruiting prediction, Bryce Underwood has a 91.7% chance of joining LSU. Bryce Underwood will declare his college commitment on January 6.
