Despite having a losing record of 4-8, Colorado’s clash against UCLA was one of the top five games in terms of viewership, as the Buffs-UCLA clash garnered about 4.66 million on ABC, per NBC Sports. Moreover, the Colorado merchandise witnessed a more than 400% increase in sales in the 2023 year. If all this was not enough to define the success of CU in 2023, the surge of a whopping $2.8 million in revenue as compared to the previous fiscal year 2022 sure is.
All of this is majorly credited to the business acumen of Deion Sanders since he established a firm presence of CU on social media. Radio advertisements, digital signage, sponsorships, and other commercial opportunities also observed a steady rise. The best part about it all? CU made about 21 million every weekend, as Deion Sanders reported on the Million Dollaz episode 266.
Along with that, the number of admissions to CU has also shot up as 68,000 kids are trying to get into the University of Colorado, also reported by Sanders on the episode. “We love it. One of the most beautiful campuses in the country,” Sanders later added, taking great pride in his institution. To add to all this, Deion Sanders has also set financial goals for the upcoming years.

The guaranteed minimums start at $4 million in year one and are further expected to rise to $5.35 million by fiscal 2035. All of this will be majorly prompted by the increase in ticket sales, as well as the increase in average rates of tickets. The returns from tickets were $13 million in the fiscal year 2023 and athletic donations were worth $29.3 million in fiscal 2023.
