The countdown is finally over for the Sanders family. On May 18, as seen in a video on her YouTube channel, Deiondra Sanders’ guests at her gender reveal party basked in the theme of blue. Yes, Deion Sanders’ daughter will be a mom to a baby boy. And as the news was shared on social media, the grandfather to be Coach Prime also congratulated the couple and the fans had only one thing in mind.

Since the baby will be the grandson of none other than Deion Sanders, it is easy for them to come up with the baby’s prospects much before he has even arrived into this world. Will he follow in the footsteps of his grandad and his sons Shilo and Shedeur Sanders?

Deion Sanders congratultes Deiondra on her “little engine”

Coach Prime has always had Deiondra Sanders’s back in her pregnancy journey. As she announced on Instagram how she had to embark on a difficult path in becoming a mother, an emotional Deion Sanders commented, “You’ve always had a MAN in your life that u call DADDY & ain’t gon ever ever let u DOWN especially when I’m UP.”

And after Deiondra made the latest revelation on Instagram, Coach Prime was there to comment. “Congratulations on the Little Engine,” he commented on the IG post. Sanders has talked about becoming a grandfather before and shared his feelings and stated that he has always been supportive of Deiondra.

In March, as the Buffs HC was on his “Elevate and Dominate: 21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field” book release tour, he appeared in an interview with the TodayShow. Even then, Coach Prime lightheartedly placed his opinion that he is too young to be called “Pop Pop (Papa) Prime.”

Coach Prime quipped, “I don’t like that though. I like it because I love my daughter. First of all, I’m proud. She’s 34. She’ll be 34 momentarily. So I’m happy. She’s ready and she’s prepared, and it’s a blessing. But I don’t know if I am ready to be a granddad. Grandpa Prime!”

While Deion Sanders may be feeling a plethora of emotions, his fans seemed to have it figured out the future for Deiondra’s boy.

Even though Coach Prime could not be spotted during Deiondra’s gender reveal celebration, the Buffs fandom is going gaga over the big news. They have already put forward their expert predictions about the soon-to-be-born baby’s future career. After Shedeur Sanders, according to a fan, Deiondra’s son will be the next quarterback playing for the Buffaloes, “Pop Pop Prime next QB and C Momma congratulations” a fan wrote.

Both of Deion Sanders sons, Shedeur and Shilo already play at the Buffs. Shedeur stars as the QB while Shilo is the safety for the team. Both of his sons followed their father into football and to Colorado. Now that Deiondra is expecting a baby boy, one fan thinks it is inevitable that when he grows up, he will be coached by Deion Sanders, “Team boy!!  so he can grow up to play sports with his Grandfather! Coach Prime!” 

Last month in an interview with People, Sanders talked how he has mixed feelings about becoming a grandfather. He told the publication, “I haven’t digested that whole thing yet and not one thing” excites him about grandparenthood. But he added, “I’m proud of my baby that she’s at least waited until her thirties to give me this gift of life. I’m happy about that, but I want to make sure she’s straight emotionally and psychologically as well.”

Since Deiondra and Jacquees’ baby will be the first grandchild in the Sanders family, Coach Prime will be one lucky grandpa to babysit him thinks one fan, “Big congratulations to Deiondra and Jacquees on having a boy. Coach Prime is the happiest grandpa in the world.”

Having already coached his sons on the field, we wouldn’t count out the possibility of Sanders getting a chance to train his grandson in some capacity. As one fan suggested, with the arrival of this baby, Deion Sanders will be loading his team of players. “What a blessing for Coach Prime! Gaining another boy to coach,” they wrote.

Even though Deion Sanders seemed to be a bit whimsical about his new role as a grandfather, it is now to be seen whether the gender reveal news has softened his feelings. That being said, it’s definitely time to order a baby Colorado Buffaloes jersey.
