Shilo Sanders as a first-round pick—Is he worth the hype or just riding his dad's coattails?

Why isn’t anyone talking about Shilo Sanders‘ draft stock? While his teammate, Travis Hunter, and his quarterback brother, Shedeur Sanders, dominate the headlines, Shilo seems left in the shadows. After all, he could be a first-round pick, probably just like them!

Despite his impressive stats – 67 tackles, 1 interception, and 4 forced fumbles in his debut season with the BuffaloesShilo hasn’t received the same draft hype. Some analysts throw cold water on his chances, predicting a later pick in the 4th or 5th round.

But a recent Life and Football video sparked a discussion. “Shilo can go first round,” the host declared, acknowledging his talent. However, Shilo needs to put in a lot of hard work. “He’s going to have to be one of the most disruptive safeties in the country to put his name up there,” he added. The video also noted that the Raiders and Falcons might also be interested in Shilo’s skill set, as he’s got all the makings of a “playmaker.” “He got size, he could run, he could catch. He got everything you want out of safety,” the host noted.

He also raved about his knack for forcing fumbles but emphasized he needs to be even more disruptive. Now, scoring “more touchdowns” and generating turnovers will boost not just the Buffaloes’ wins but also Shilo’s draft stock. Thus, “Ain’t no stopping him,” the video confidently concluded.

However, despite these words of praise, the ongoing lawsuit is bound to cast a shadow on his bright future. Sanders & Co. is doing everything it can to erase that.

Off-field troubles jeopardize Shilo Sanders’ draft path

Shilo Sanders isn’t just a “hard hitter” on the field but off it, too. Back in high school, a teenage Shilo got into a physical altercation with the security guard, John Darjean, who was trying to take his phone away at his father’s request. The incident resulted in severe injuries for Darjean and a hefty lawsuit against Shilo for an astounding $11.89 million. Things got even more complicated when Shilo filed for bankruptcy, allegedly aiming to avoid paying the lawsuit amount. This legal battle has tarnished Shilo’s image to the core.

Despite his talent, Shilo’s draft dreams seem to slip away. Shilo was even confident about being a first-round draft pick earlier this year, but his legal woes have analysts scratching him off their top lists. Coach Prime, too, is trying to manage the damage by posting Shilo’s impressive stats and highlights on social media, even turning up the hype with captions like: “My Hitta My Hitta! Literally. Love ya son and proud of u.”

However, can Shilo overcome this controversy with a solid performance in the field? Or will Deion’s social media hype go in vain?
