Did Dylan Edwards make the right call leaving Deion Sanders' Buffs for a better career path?

Woah! Did Dylan Edwards just describe his departure from Colorado Buffaloes as the “best decision?” As the WR sat for an interview for Cats Talk by Wildcat NIL, he called his act of moving out of Deion Sanders’ program the game-changer for his career.

Even though Edwards’ exit shocked many, Shedeur Sanders did not fall into that category. Instead, the Buffs’ quarterback sensation confirmed he was prepared for the WR’s exit. Meanwhile, now that the former blue chip has returned to his home state, he has become a real sensation in that setting — all kudos to Edwards’ impressive 40-time dash.

Edwards joined podcast host Curry Sexton on July 12, revealing the mental tug-of-war. A long introspection process helped the WR arrive at a moment of clarity. Edwards confessed how it took him quite some time to decide to flip programs: “I just did a lot of you know thinking and soul searching…just felt like it was my best decision to you know leave Colorado and do my own thing.”

Even while making the final call, the player had only one thing in mind: finding the perfect fit for himself. As Edwards said, “As far I go to a team that I know it will be good for me, a good fit for me and that I could be great at and that I could do something that’s bigger than myself.” While it might have taken some time for the ex-Buffs WR to settle his brain debate and ultimately return to his home state, Kansas, it hardly came as a plot twist for Shedeur Sanders.

On July 11, at the Big 12 Media Days, the Buffs QB quipped, “I wasn’t surprised. I talked to him [Edwards] just in general. I kind of understood where his mind was at and I understand. The thing with me, I’m never a biased guy. If you feel like something is better for you then I’m a friend at the end of the day.” But amidst the hoopla, did Edwards find the ideal match? Of course, he did!

Edwards is the ultimate speed demon

Moving to Kansas State, Edwards signed up for something GREAT! The new signee has been tabbed as one of the fastest RBs in college football. Even though the No. 2 player from the state onboarded the Buffs boat for the 2023 recruiting class, Colorado’s leading crusher transferred to Kansas State Wildcats with three years of eligibility remaining.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Dylan Edwards make the right call leaving Deion Sanders' Buffs for a better career path?

Have an interesting take?

The RB from Derby amassed his 40-time dash at only 4.8 seconds. He also reached heights by performing 28.4 inches in the vertical jump. All this adds up to Edwards’ reputation as an X factor. Hence, Chris Klieman, the K-State coach, did not waste time going after Edwards this spring. Dexterous on either side, standing at 5-foot-9, he is one powerhouse of talent, as he contributed both as a kickoff and punt returner.

This was enough to score the Coach’s seal of approval. Klieman confidently stated, “(Edwards is) probably the home run threat that we were missing, whether it’s in the backfield, out of the backfield, in the return game. I’m excited for Dylan because he gets to come back home because K-State is home for him.” It is now to be seen whether losing Edwards comes off as a costly loss for Deion’s Colorado.
