Seems like Deion Coach Prime is going back to his roots. Deion Sanders momentarily stepping away from the rigors of the Buffaloes program, reunites with his long-time companion, the iconic wrestler Bill Goldberg. The duo’s bond dates back to their Atlanta Falcon days when they became friends while playing. Goldberg, then a defensive tackle, was Deion’s unwavering support, earning the moniker of his “ace in the hole” – a term that resonates with their shared experiences off the field.
Their recent meeting, filled with laughter and shared memories took a poignant turn. In a playful jest, Deion claims credit for Goldberg’s wrestling career, underscoring the depth of their bond that has spanned decades. This emotional revelation is sparked by the news that Goldberg’s son, Gage, has committed to play football for the Buffaloes under Coach Prime.

An interview on Well Off Media captures the heartwarming reunion between Deion Sanders and Bill Goldberg. Deion starts by saying, “Let me tell you the legacy!” He dives into a hilarious story from their playing days, where a frustrated Goldberg slammed a teammate into the lockers after a missed putt. Goldberg chimes in, adding, “And got fined $10,000 which was basically three of my checks at the time!” Despite the hefty fine, Goldberg emphasizes their strong bond as he added, “He was my brother and he’ll always be my brother and I’ll always be there for him.”
Deion continues the trip down memory lane, recalling their playful locker room wrestling matches. “We have wrestling matches every Friday… and I used to always say who vs Goldberg. Everybody put their head down, nobody wanted it and then he becomes a wrestler,“ Deion said. Now, looking back, the WWE Hall of Famer acknowledges Deion’s influence with gratitude — “So I guess I have to give him 100% credit for me being a professional wrestler. Because I never would have done it.”

Goldberg’s NFL career ended after he tore his lower abdomen off his pelvis. This was during a 1994 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was let go from the Falcons in 1995 and didn’t begin his boxing career till 1998, at the age of 30. However, the former football player has his son carrying his legacy all these years later who is coached by none other than Coach Prime himself.
The lighthearted mood soon took a heartwarming turn when Goldberg embraced his son and said, “Now he’s taking care of my boy.“ His son, Gage Goldberg, also committed to the Buffaloes earlier this year.

Bill Goldberg’s son, Gage, had his sights set on joining the Alabama Crimson Tide this year. But those plans changed abruptly when Coach Nick Saban’s retirement came in January. “Literally our plans completely changed,“ the WWE legend said.
Luckily, Bill had a friend in high places – Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Thus, his son ends up committing to playing for Deion. While the connection between their dads likely played a role, the 6-foot linebacker emphasized the “amazing coaching staff“ at Colorado as the main reason for his choice. In fact, like Deion, Gage excels in football and baseball. For now, football will take center stage under Coach Sanders, and it will be exciting to see how Gage shines on the field in the coming years.
