Is Deion Sanders right to defend Shedeur, or is he overreacting to social media rumors?

And here we are, back in the hazing pit. Running hot on the trail of getting bashed for criticizing the EA CFB25 rating of Shedeur Sanders. Deion Sanders is in the crosshairs of the fans again. This time, though, it’s not Coach Prime’s fault. Well, NFL Rookie Watch thought it would be fun to claim on 12th July that Shedeur wanted to go for Falcons, Cowboys, Commanders, or 49ers for his NFL journey.

Surprise Surprise, Shedeur never really claimed any of this, as he was quick to comment, “When did I say this?” Now, following this, Coach Prime took to X to defend his son. “Please stop lying on us. Show me where @ShedeurSanders said what teams he desired to play for? That’s something we don’t do. God bless whomever was the GENESIS of this lie. We love ya and hope u attain what u desire,” Deion was straightforward about it. He directly rejected any of the claims made by NFL Rookie Watch and even asked for proof. But fans were NOT happy. “Get off twitter old man,” is what one fan said regarding the entire scene. Bit harsh, to be honest.

Now, this all might seem like a PR stunt for his son, but there are still major chances of this being pure confusion. While the listed teams could provide a good home for Shedeur, he would be much better off in a place where he is known or familiar with. Off the top of my head, Raiders or Browns would be perfect for him. Raiders because of the connection Deion Sanders and HC Antonio Pierce have and Browns because of their solid defense. However, keeping all of this aside, the post by Coach Prime gained significant hate from the fans.

In the hazing pit, yet again

One fan pointed out, “I can’t show you where Shedeur said it but I can show you where you said it!” referencing a previous comment by Deion about Eli Manning’s ability to choose his team. This happened back in March on Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast where Deion was very open about the entire NFL draft thing regarding Shedeur and Travis. “pull an Eli” is what Coach Prime said he would do if both his star players ended in the wrong teams. Now what exactly did Eli Manning even do? Well, in the 2004 NFL draft, he rejected the Chargers and went on to play for the Giants.

Another user asked, “Coach, did you ever ask your son why he tried to jab a player’s eyes out last season?” This incident was during the Buffs vs Rams match. It was alleged that Shedeur tried to poke a State Rams player’s eyes. Though nothing was really proved. Further, a fan urged, “Please stop being such an attention seeker and coach ball,” reflecting a sentiment that Deion should focus more on coaching than public disputes.

Additionally, one fan commented, “When there is no news, you just make it up,” criticizing the fact that this could all be part of a PR stunt for the Sanders. Well, no evidence has been presented yet though. Finally, a fan mocked the situation with, “Are we walking that back now?” highlighting the back-and-forth nature of public statements and denials in the sports world.
