It’s Kirby Smart’s era in Georgia, and there’s no doubt about it! Out of the last 48 games, he’s led the Bulldogs to win 46, including back-to-back championships and a close playoff call last year. Now, Smart seems set to continue his magic by securing a big recruit.

When we say big, we mean 5-star big! Defensive lineman Justus Terry is all in awe of the Georgia football program. He committed to UGA last year but went through several flips and changes. Now, it looks like he might become a Bulldog soon, donning the red jersey.

Speaking to Dawgnation on August 7th, Terry was asked why he would pick Georgia again. And the DL had more than one reason. He said, “If it’s worth having, it doesn’t come easy. That’s something I go by from UGA. You want to have championships and you know the brotherhood and you know a lot of things you want to make history at UGA.” He acknowledged it’s going to be hard at Georgia but believes the path is worth it, adding, “It’s like if it’s worth having, it doesn’t come easy.”

Now, Terry is no easy recruit either. The interior defensive lineman has made 78 tackles in high school and is the 6th best recruit in Georgia. He initially committed to UGA, then flipped to USC, but made waves when he ditched the Trojans in June. Now, other big names like Alabama and Florida State wanted him too, but right now, Georgia Bulldogs are the frontrunners. His previous commitment issues seem to have left no bad blood, judging by his speech.

Looks like Smart might soon secure this big December recruit, adding to his recruiting genius!

Kirby Smart is a recruiting mastermind

If UGA lands Justus Terry, their already stacked 2025 recruiting class will be even more impressive. Just this August, the team landed top-rated 4-star offensive tackle Juan Gaston, who chose Georgia over big names like Tennessee, and Oregon. This 6-foot-7 Gaston joins another massive 6-foot-11 tackle, Jahzare Jackson, on the Georgia offense next year. Looks like a “pretty big” win for UGA’s offensive line.

Adding to the hype, coveted 4-star tackle Nick Brooks has named the Bulldogs among his top three schools. If he commits, Brooks will be the 5th O-lineman to join their 2025 recruiting class. Now, Georgia is already in the top three for the 2025 recruiting class, and it looks like Kirby Smart will soon push it to the No. 1 spot. With Georgia’s winning caliber and Smart’s recruiting genius, it’s no difficult task.

With Nick Saban out of the picture, Kirby Smart is seen as the top dog in college football. He’s basically following in Saban’s footsteps when it comes to building a winning program. CFB expert Mark Rodgers also believes the same, as he says, “I mean he [Smart] was there at a front seat to how Saban was obsessed about recruiting and defense and he’s done it. And so, Kirby’s become the gold standard of football.” This certainly holds true on the recruiting front, looking at the 2025 roster.
