Is Kirby Smart the new king of college football, or is Alabama still the team to beat?

Woah! Kirby Smart does not only bear the word “smart” in his name but he lives up to his name. He has pulled an ace to propel the program to the top spot. And guess how? The Georgia HC has secured the commitment of five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry. Terry’s commitment journey has been no less than a flipping game. From Georgia to USC and then back to Georgia again. Have to say Smart has been extremely smart in being the frontrunner to land the extremely talented defensive lineman prospect. Besides, the Bulldogs HC has pulled some genius moves by bringing in a dominant freshman to oomph up their National Championship hopes.

On June 19, this year, Terry announced that he had opted out of the Trojans program within a day after the departure of five-star edge Isaiah Gibson. The five-star defensive tackle announced on X, “MY RECRUITMENT IS OPEN!!” This was enough of a hint for Smart to pounce back into action. While the Bulldogs HC knew that he was not the only one eyeing Terry, he channeled all his focus on the huge recruiting weekend. On the On3 recruits podcast, the host revealed that “Chad Simmons and Jeremy Johnson broke the news that five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry has confirmed he’s going to be in Athens this weekend.”

This has been a big win in itself, as it was no easy task as Smart had to compete with none other than the recruitment guru, Kalen DeBoer. As the host pointed out Alabama championing the athlete auction, “Alabama had probably kind of gotten his name in the mix…Alabama had stuck its nose right dead in there and that’s what Kalen DeBoer is doing right now he is absolutely boring into every recruitment that he possibly can and doing a great job.” But this time it’s Smart and his squad who emerged as “big-time player.” At Georgia, Terry will be joining a bunch of freshman talents.

Smart’s blueprint to climb from No. 4 to No. 1

Smart is leaving no stone unturned to climb up the ladder from the No. 4 spot in the recruiting game to No. 1, replacing DeBoer’s Crimson Tide. And guess what? The Bulldogs HC has kicked the gears into motion. The one to top the list of the best of the best freshmen that Smart landed is Nate Fraizer. Being the best combination of power and speed, he is one of the top running backs in the country. The 5 foot-11 all-purpose back is a four-star prospect who has often drawn parallels with Florida running back Trevor Etienne and holds the potential to boost the Bulldogs’ backfield.

The offensive tackle, Daniel Calhoun, is known as the beast. The 6-foot-7 athlete might be the most physically imposing player and is ranked the No. 15 prospect in the state of Georgia. Defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye might be an underrated dawg, but his true interior frame capacity and jumbo edge dimensions help him to stand out of the crowd.

The other notable names to look up to this fall are Jordan Thomas and Nazir Johnson. While Smart previously found himself in hot water for his struggle with time management, he switched gears to become the recruitment rockstar.
