The Bulldogs’ pride and glory, Carson Beck, may be one of the top picks of the NFL Draft of 2025. However, as far as his position in the team is considered, he hasn’t been hailed as the greatest despite his staggering records. The name of Stetson Bennett overshadows Beck’s glory amid ESPN’s rather diplomatic views.

Per ESPN, “field general” Beck is seemingly on a par with Stetson Bennett, the current quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, who led the Bulldogs to two consecutive national championships. In 2021, he came back to Georgia from Jones College and won two consecutive natty championships, something which only AJ McCarron and Tommie Frazer had done before as quarterbacks. As such, he was drafted as the No. 7 pick by ESPN in the 2023 NFL Draft, as was Beck for the 2024 Draft. Though they’re touted to be the same, the head coach for Georgia seems to think Beck is unlike any QB he’s ever seen.

On the June 18 episode of the DawgNation show, host Brandon Adams dove deep into the statistics on how the Georgia Bulldogs could win the National Championship in 2024. He later brought up a clip of Kirby Smart talking about how talented Beck is, which Adams later used to quantify his argument of Beck over Bennett.

At a recent press conference, Kirby Smart was heard saying how Beck is a phenomenal leader in the team and how he excels at “decision-making,” which is just one of the many perks that come with his experience.

Adding to his views on Beck, Adams drew a comparative analysis between Beck and Bennett and said, “Bennett I think, goes down as an all-time great but I don’t know that Bennett knew the offense as well as Carson Beck does and throughout the entirety of the game, I don’t know that Bennett was capable of operating as smoothly as Carson Beck sometimes seems like he operates. Man, Stetson was good when things broke down or it was time to kind of like just sort of improvise late in the game. Man Stetson always seemed to have that moxy. Beck is just a little bit different.” With all that said, here’s a detailed stat-by-stat comparison between Beck and Bennett.

There is no denying that Carson Beck stands out as one of the best players in the class of 2024, with many NFL analysts placing him at the top of the list for the Heisman trophy. Though he has two championships to his name, Bennett is still deemed to be his equal, which makes sense if we glance at their respective numbers.

If we were to look at Bennett’s best year with the Bulldogs, which was 2022, he recorded over 4,127 passing yards and finished 27 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions. Whereas as for Beck, he had his breakout season in 2023 where he was the starting QB and recorded brilliant numbers as well. His passing yards stood at 3,941 with 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Thus, both the QBs have been the bark and bite of the Bulldogs in the past 3 years and it is evident that they’re not too different from each other despite their almost duplicate statistics.
