Remember back on July 6th when The 33rd Team released their Mock Draft List for 2025? The 33rd Team put Carson Beck on 5th and Shedeur Sanders on 8th in their Mock Draft List for 2025. Looks like this was a fair ranking after all. With Daniel Jeremiah taking up the task of presenting a detailed scouting report on Beck, it looks like this changes the entire debate about who’s better; Shedeur or Beck.
On July 19th, Around The NFL took to X to share what Jeremiah had found regarding Beck. “He can power the ball into tight windows. I saw him consistently utilize anticipation, velocity, and ball placement to fit the ball between a triangle of defenders,” he noted. Carson Beck led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 season. With his overall arm strength and quick release thrown in the mix, it ain’t no wonder why Jeremiah was sitting there comparing him to Eli Manning. “He reminds me of Eli Manning coming out of Ole Miss,” Jeremiah had mentioned in his report. Now this entire thing brings us to an interesting point.

What’s that one core fact that differentiates Beck from Shedeur? Matt Miller from ESPN put it quite right, “Beck is the player who is the top quarterback in this class because of how well he protects himself in the pocket, whereas Shedeur Sanders, very surgical but he gets rocked in those pockets.” This was one of the major reasons why for this season Deion Sanders was seen focusing on the offense and defense line for the Buffs. Jeremiah in his report also brings this out. “Like Manning, Beck excels from the pocket and plays to his size,” he said. Manning, who got the Heisman back in 2003, was known for protecting himself while playing from the pocket. A skill that Beck has shown plenty of times. All of this does not look good for Shedeur Sanders or the Buffs.
Major challenge for Shedeur Sanders

“He doesn’t have a stellar arm” and “he gets rocked in those pockets” are two of the biggest issues that were visible from Shedeur Sander’s 2023 performance. While he has started working on his accuracy and that has seen an uplift, who’s going to protect him inside the zone? While Deion Sanders has prepped his team up to make up for Shedeur’s lack of defensive capabilities, against Beck or Bulldogs? All of this will fall short.

Also back on July 5th, Daniel Jeremiah put out a scouting report on Shedeur as well. “Sanders lacks the ideal suddenness and urgency to avoid defenders and create space/time within the pocket,” Jeremiah had mentioned. We are still yet to see if the revamped team comp will do good for Shedeur this year. Now, while Beck is already shouldering the same weight that Eli Manning used to, Shedeur, on the other hand, drew comparisons to Geno Smith, who is an exceptional player but never won the Heisman. Only the 2024 games will tell who finally gets out on top.
