Everyone agrees that Georgia is already a top team, but their schedule is quite brutal. They’ve got tough games against Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Texas. So, sports analyst Joel Klatt put Georgia at No. 2 in his preseason rankings, right behind Ohio State. Klatt thinks Georgia is great with its win records, but he’s worried about replacing their star tight end, Brock Bowers.

But not everyone agrees. The August 6 edition of UGA Football on Dawg Post talked about how Georgia might actually have a better quarterback situation than Ohio State. The host said, “The quarterback is really concerning at Ohio State. That’s why I would probably have Georgia as my one more than any other reason.” He went on to praise Carson Beck, saying he’s a future first-round draft pick. 

Beck had a great season last year, throwing for 3,941 yards and 28 touchdowns. He could even be the first few picks to go out and a potential Heisman contender. However, Ohio State is a mess at quarterback. They’ve got a bunch of guys like Will Howard and Devin Brown competing for the job, including the true freshman Julian Sayin. “Do you want to got into a playoffs with a true freshman? Because that’s not worked out great generally speaking,” the host says, handing a reality check to Ohio fans. 

Right now, Georgia has some tough competition across all conferences. But not everyone has a quarterback like Beck!

Carson Beck & Co. aiming for third championship win

Kirby Smart is all set for an impressive 2024 season. This will be his last chance to have star quarterback Carson Beck on the roster. By getting the best out of Beck, Smart is boosting his star status and improving the team’s championship prospects. Imagine one team with a top draft pick, a Heisman winner, and a championship title. That’s the status Smart is aiming for Georgia right now.

Earlier this month, On3’s expert JD PicKell shared his opinions, noting that Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio State are strong contenders for the big title. However, he firmly believes the Bulldogs will win this time. He explained his reasoning: “The experience factor for Kirby Smart in national title games, Carson Beck in big stages, the depth on the line of scrimmage that I think slightly favors Georgia in this game.”

Pickell believes Beck is the critical factor, adding, “I think the consistency of Carson Beck ends up making the difference.” Peter Burns of SEC Network also shared this sentiment this August, praising Georgia’s offensive shape and crediting Beck. He also noted, “They’re loaded once again defensively, they got off the buzz mark, and they look better than some NFL teams right now.”

Despite Bowers’ loss, Georgia still looks strong and is all set to win its third championship title this season.
