The Texas A&M Aggies find themselves grappling with personnel setbacks following the departure of head coach Jimbo Fisher. The latest blow to the program came on Sunday night when four-star edge rusher Gabriel Reliford decided to de-commit from the Aggies.

Brian Kelly and his coaching staff at LSU, however, continue their successful recruiting efforts with the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford. The announcement comes on the heels of Reliford’s official visit to Baton Rouge, where the prospect decided to de-commit from Texas A&M just five days after the visit, making LSU his new college destination.

Reliford, ranked as the No. 4 prospect in Louisiana, bolsters LSU’s 2024 class, which already boasts 27 commitments. The defensive line emerges as a position of need for the Tigers, prompting Kelly to actively pursue Reliford and secure his commitment.

The recruiting journey with LSU began in July when Reliford received an offer from the Tigers, even though he was committed to Texas A&M at the time. Despite his prior commitment, LSU’s scholarship offer laid the foundation for future developments in his recruitment.

Following his official visit to LSU, news broke that Texas A&M’s defensive line coach, Elijah Robinson, was departing for Syracuse, creating a significant shift in the landscape. In response to the coaching change, Reliford reopened his recruitment, with LSU and USC emerging as the top contenders. Despite USC being named a finalist, LSU gained momentum after a successful official visit, ultimately securing Reliford’s commitment.
