Even before stepping on the college training grounds, Julian Lewis has met with some of the best CFB drama! One might say it comes with the loud (and scrumptious) hype he has got during his official visit weeks. However, the seasoned ones know it is the byproduct of all the work the Carrollton QB has put in through his high school years. Getting awarded the Fresh and Sophomore Player of the Year by MaxFresh is simply proof of it. Lewis could get ready to add the Senior Player of the Year by MaxFresh to his list to cement it further. On the journey to this accolade, JuJu got another honor.

In the days leading up to the 2024 College Football season, MaxFresh dropped its rankings of the best high school players in each state. The Carrollton, Georgia QB Julian Lewis, secured a spot as the “best player in Georgia” per their rankings. And that’s just the beginning for the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder QB. Knowing it all too well, the top prospect of the 2025 season took to X to share his gratitude to his 36.8k followers on the social media platform. “AGTG Thankful for every opportunity to play this game. More work to do! #AlmostTime,” Lewis wrote, simultaneously hyping his fans about his upcoming games.

Lewis does not know that he does not need to create the hype for himself. Deion Sanders and his Colorado supporters are doing it pretty well, but they are not the only ones doing it anymore. USC head coach Lincoln Riley and, slowly, all CFB fans have joined hands to create the hype around Lewis while holding their breaths to stomach whatever his decision would be.

Fans walking on eggshells about Julian Lewis’s decision

Just when the fans thought that the “We want JuJu” chant was dying down in Colorado, one tweet from Deion Sanders revved it. It all started when On3 and 247 Sports removed a star from Julian Lewis’ rankings, making him a 4-star athlete. ESPN and Rivals, however, continue seeing Lewis as a 5-star prospect. Opening up about it, Lewis confessed a star lost here or there hardly makes his self-confidence waver. “I don’t care what they rank me and the people who support me shouldn’t either,” JuJu said, asking his supporters to have faith in him, not his rankings.

As if it needed to be done anymore, Deion Sanders was one of the first ones standing up by Lewis’s side, proving himself to be his loyal supporter. “To whom it may concern if u desire to come play for us @CUBuffsFootball they may drop your HS rankings just because… Fortunately, we don’t care about rankings,” Prime wrote on his social media, intending to be just the perfect amount of sarcastic since the fate of Colorado recruits losing ranking stars is something Deion Sanders is well aware of.

It is just history repeating itself. On the brighter side, this also means there is still hope for Lewis to go to Colorado, especially after the hottest QB in the 2025 CFB class got a star cut down from his rank.
