The Colorado prodigy is one of the more trending topics in college football lately and he’s also touted to be one of the best quarterbacks this year. He was one of the top-10 candidates for the Heisman Trophy in 2023, and as such, there are a lot of expectations on his shoulders this year to go on to be in the lead for the 2025 NFL Draft but as per the analysts, the QB for the Georgia Bulldogs, Carson Beck might go on to flood all over Shedeur’s chances.
Carson Beck, the best passer in the Georgia Bulldogs, made quite a name for himself last season. Several reports suggested that he would have been a first-round pick last April if he had chosen to declare for the Draft. Beck, being the number 1 pick in the 2025 Draft, could be in the cards and unfortunately for Shedeur, seems quite plausible, as per ESPN’s Matt Miller and his Mock Draft.

ESPN released their newest mock draft recently and as per Matt Miller, the two QBs, Carson Beck and Shedeur Sanders are the top 2 and in that order, which will not please the many Colorado fans who had better predictions for their star. Moreover, Miller had a detailed description of how Beck’s talents overpower that of Shedeur’s as he spoke to the Sportscenter news channel.

Miller highlighted that Shedeur got sacked (52) several times in the past season and how Beck can hold his own in tight pockets without being sacked. He said, “So I think Beck is the player who is the top quarterback in this class because of how well he protects himself in the pocket and what he does with that big right arm, whereas Shedeur Sanders, very surgical but he gets rocked in those pockets and at times, gets a little bit beat up. That’s going to be a big question for a quarterback who is 6 foot 2, 215 pounds.” Thus, Shedeur might just be second to the Georgia QB if he doesn’t make his mark in his final season with the Buffaloes. With that being said, here’s a comparative look at both Shedeur and Carson’s stats, which will provide better quality on the debate.

Is Shedeur Sanders being overlooked despite his impressive stats? Carson Beck's 'supernatural' edge—fact or hype?
Have an interesting take?
The ESPN Mock Draft as presented by Matt Miller has the New York Giants trading up to sign Beck while the Las Vegas Raiders pick Shedeur at number 2. While it’s currently unclear whether Shedeur has a favorite team to join in the NFL, he certainly won’t be too happy with being ranked as the second-best QB, especially when both their numbers are so close to each other.
If we were to look at Carson Beck’s stats in the 2023 season, he recorded over 3,941 passing yards and secured 24 touchdowns to his name with only 6 interceptions. Whereas for Shedeur, he raked in a total of 3,230 passing yards and completed 27 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions. While Beck does clear Shedeur in the field of passing by only 711 yards, the Colorado QB excels in terms of touchdowns and interceptions. Thus, making it difficult to pick the better QB over a hairline distinction between the two.
