Is Jim Harbaugh's denial just another smokescreen, or is he genuinely innocent this time?

No matter how much you hate Paul Finebaum, you still gotta agree that sometimes he does deliver solid takes. Back on ESPN, Finebaum made it very clear what he thinks about the entire Jim Harbaugh & Co. situation. “I would like to bow at the feet of Jim Harbaugh,” Finebaum mentioned. Also going on to say that Harbaugh pulled off a major scam and just acted like he never did anything.

Now on First Take by ESPN on August 6th, Clinton Yates also delivers his verdict on the entire denial situation. “I like Harbaugh. But this does not feel good,” he mentioned. Harbaugh has gone on to say that he is not going to apologize because he didn’t do anything wrong. While it is true that Harbaugh had received a suspension from a few matches back in 2023 when the sign stealing first came to light, it still feels like a slap on the wrist for a big crime. Hell, NCAA president Charlie Baker had himself go on record to say that Michigan won the championship ‘’fair and square.’’ Even today, on August 6th back on OutKick Hot Mic, Chad Withrow was angry at the entire thing. “They’re so damn arrogant about their cheating,” Withrow mentioned.

While sign stealing is something that is often practiced across the league, scouting opponents isn’t. NCAA’s initial report revealed that Connor Stalions (former analyst) was the main one behind the entire thing. He was apparently spotted in more than 35 games scouting players and teams who were on the Wolverine’s schedule. When Harbaugh was approached by the NCAA regarding this, he gave a strict verdict. “My instructions have always been firmly within the rules,” Harbaugh mentioned. However, if we move on from Harbaugh, someone else is getting the sharp end of the stick.

What will happen to Moore?

Sherrone Moore, current HC for the Wolverines, has found himself in a tough spot. With the draft report of the investigations out, Moore was apparently found deleting strings of texts between him and Stalions. Around 50+ texts were deleted, and this makes Moore a direct violator. Finebaum has been clear regarding what the result of the investigation would be. “NCAA takes forever to do anything. I don’t think it’s (case) going anywhere,” Finebaum had mentioned.

As per him, Moore would only get a 3-day ban and a slap on the wrist from the NCAA and nothing else. The same was given to Jim Harbaugh as well. However, if the investigations reveal further information about Moore’s involvement, then he could also end up getting a show clause. This would mean that this career in NCAA schools will have to end completely. For now, we just have to wait on what the NCAA decides.
