Are the accusations against Coach Prime just a smear campaign to tarnish his reputation?

Amid all the doubts and eyebrows that are raised against the Colorado Buffaloes, one of their players emerges as a knight in shining armor to defend the team’s honor. Deion Sanders has been tight-lipped about the situation that could very possibly tarnish the entire credibility that his team holds but fortunately for the Buffs’ fans, Camden Dempsey came out to save the day by finally choosing to address the allegations that are being so strongly hurled against the program.

The Colorado Buffaloes have been under heavy fire from college football fans ever since the article from Athlon came out. The totality of the piece claimed that the mentality within the team is largely toxic, which promotes players to be violent towards each other. Moreover, Deion himself has been heard saying the words on camera, “If one fights, we all fight” hence, glorifying the physical reactions from his roster rather than trying to deescalate the situation. While not a lot of the claims have been proven to be true yet, Camden Dempsey took it upon himself to be the sole player from the team as of yet to refute these allegations and play on the golden harp that is Coach Prime and his ethics.

During an interview after practice on 5th August, Camden Dempsey took to the stand to address the horrible news that has been circling around on social media about the violent conditions within the team and did so with a firm stance. In order to defend Coach Prime’s reputation, the junior long snapper went on a lengthy rant, which has been a bit shaky since the Athlon article was released.

While commending Deion’s abilities as a coach and how he’s been able to bring the team together, Dempsey also talked about how much hate is common to arise against a program like CU, which is doing so well and is quite popular. He said, “I think the headline there is enough is enough. We are a program that’s in the spotlight and with that, you’re gonna have a lot of lovers which are great but you also have a lot of haters.” Conclusively, Dempsey mentioned how the team is working their hardest and they only care about their coach, who is apparently “changing the scope of college football.” Well, we’re not sure how a single season with a 4-8 record changes anything except for expectations from the program, but it’s good to see that the players continue to have faith in their head coach.

Dempsey has done a great job at spewing out sentimental words for his team and the coach, but he took the ambitions a notch higher when he assured everyone that the Buffaloes will be unlike anyone’s ever seen this year.

The team faced a mass exodus after the end of the 2023 season when over 23 players decided to jump ship. This begs the question, how bad do things have to be for players to quit the program after just one year of Deion taking over? Had there been no signs from him that made the players feel like he could lead them to glory in the coming years? These questions all prick the mind now especially since the horrific stories that are coming out of Boulder are leading to grave concerns.

But according to Dempsey, the team isn’t paying much heed to these allegations and is focusing on their game instead. Terming it to be a “Us versus everybody” situation, they need to prove to everyone that this season will be mightily different from what occurred last year. Moreover, he talked about how their first game as a season-opener against North Dakota State will showcase the new and revamped roster that Coach Prime has so delicately structured, promising fans of a dominant side. “Doesn’t mean a lot when you’re going to look at our record and see a pretty great year.” These are the words with which Dempsey might have locked the Buffs’ fate in since if they don’t end up achieving all these accolades that they talk about, Coach Prime might just have to answer to the allegations of ‘Coach Crime’ and how much of it has been true all this while.
