Deion Sanders and Bill Goldberg’s friendship is an absolute roller coaster. From their NFL days to their meet at Boulder training grounds, Deion Sanders and Bill Goldberg have always cherished their friendship. Their friendship hit another milestone as Goldberg’s son Gage chose Colorado to mark the onset of his football career, the reason for Goldberg visiting the Buffs grounds, to drop him there. It was only natural for the two to take a trip down memory lane. Hence, when asked about his adventures with Deion Sanders back from his Atlanta days, Bill Goldberg mentioned some hilarious ones.

Tracing back to his NFL roots, Goldberg jokingly admitted what made him relevant back then. “I tried to play in the NFL. I played for like four years and then I ended up carrying Deion’s bags,” Goldberg said during the exclusive interview with ‘The Pregame Network’. Goldberg did two things there. One was subtly pointing out the sheer passion with Deion Sanders collected bags then being the fashionista he was.

Second was to bring his short-lived career in the cleats. Goldberg had a fair realization that the NFL was not working out for him. He even openly confessed that he was ‘pushed out of the league‘ as he was ‘not good enough‘. Running short on funds, Goldberg got into the wrestling business when he “Got a call from the accountant.” As he looks back over his shoulder, wrestling was his calling after all instead of the NFL as he previously thought.

Despite being a Tuscaloosa native, Goldberg flipped to Georgia in his college years, making his way to be a standout defensive tackle there. The Los Angeles Chargers drafted him in 1990. In the two years he spent there, Goldberg didn’t see any action, prompting his switch to the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. The place where he sparked his special bond with Deion Sanders and also where he had to carry Deion Sanders bags, which were probably Louis Vuitton. However, Deion Sanders’ bags were not the only luxury thing they bonded over during their Falcons years.

Bill Goldberg’s $10,000 blunder

The saga of anecdotes at Boulder was a continuation of their playful back and forth from their Memorial Day Cookout reunion. Since Gage announced his commitment to Colorado, the two friends decided to meet up for some outdoor food adventure to celebrate. A lot of words were exchanged, and a lot of emotions were unpacked but what is a meeting between old friends without some humorous anecdotes?

This time it was a $10,000 blunder. Goldberg had tackled Deion Sanders out of a fight. After which Goldberg “ran from one end of the SAT line to the other end and slammed someone.” Laughing along the memory, Goldberg confirmed it was true. Only until he mentioned the fine amount he was penalized with.

Got fined $10,000 which was basically three of my checks at the time. When he [Deion] was making that every 15 seconds,” Goldberg said, indirectly highlighting the hefty paychecks that Deion made then. Hence, the gratitude-laced words from both ends were enough to make the fans smile.
