The news of Elias Larry’s transfer is far from good for the Navy Midshipmen team. Larry, the defensive back for the Midshipmen, has been a vital part of the roster with his consistent performance. Though he’s had an impressive career with the team, it seems as if he’s ready to bid goodbye to the team.

The Navy Midshipmen haven’t had the best season this year. They finished with a poor record of 5-7. And as such, it makes sense as to why Larry has chosen to go down this path and make the drastic change. The Midshipmen lost to the Army Black Knights last night in a match that is considered to be one of the biggest rivalries in college football, and thus, it looks like that was Larry’s last straw with the team.

Larry has been a starter in 8 of the 11 games he played in 2022 and managed to finish the season with 19 tackles and 2 interceptions. Thus, it has been apparent that Larry has been a vital force behind the team’s wins throughout his three seasons with the Midshipmen. Unfortunately, he will be calling it quits with the team and entering the transfer portal, according to a recent announcement.

Throughout his three-season career, Larry has over 40 touchdowns and only two interceptions to his name. No doubt, the fans will miss his phenomenal talent on the team, but they will continue to wish him all the best for his upcoming career. The prisoner exchange program is something that promotes student academic and inclusivity in both schools. Seven students from both military academies participate in this exchange for a semester that takes place before the game begins. And although the tradition started as a weekend thing, it got stretched to a semester in 1975. Thus, while the season has come to an end now, these traditions and participation are what make college football so great.
