Jacquees put a ring on it! The R&B star surprised Deion Sanders’ daughter with a proposal during her baby shower. Deiondra Sanders, expecting their son in August, became labeled Mrs. Jacquees-to-be, sparking major excitement and unexpected backlash.

On July 14, the pool-themed party became a double dose of joy when Jacquees got down on one knee. He delivered a heartfelt speech, reminiscing about their journey together, before popping the question with a stunning princess-cut diamond ring. Deiondra, overcome with emotion, said yes, and Jacquees couldn’t contain his happiness.

On July 15, the Quemix rapper shared a photo of Deiondra flaunting her giant diamond ring on social media, writing, “She gone be a Broadnax soon…💍😇@deiondrasanders @jewelryunlimited.” This seemingly innocent post caught some fans off guard. While many congratulated the couple, others felt a sense of male chauvinism in how Jacquees phrased it.

Now, the debate around last names wasn’t new. Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax had previously insisted their baby take his last name. After some lighthearted discussions, they decided on the cute nickname, Baby Que, for now, a playful nod to Daddy Jacquees.

But now, the issue is turning toward Deiondra Sanders. Her to-be last name has ignited a firestorm online. Some fans believe she shouldn’t give up her identity, sparking debates about tradition and choice. After all, the Sanders name apparently carries more weight than the Broadnax surname. Thus, the internet seems to vouch for Deiondra Sanders over Deiondra Broadnax.

‘Sanders’ fans weigh in their thoughts on Jacquees’ engagement post

Many are buzzing over Deiondra’s new last name. Should she keep it after her wedding? One fan chimed in, “Broadnax? She should still give the baby her name!” After all, if Deiondra takes Jacquees’ last name, the baby would too. Remember, rumors were flying in May that Deiondra wouldn’t give the baby Jacquees’ last name because they weren’t married. Deiondra quickly cleared the air, saying, “What I actually said was my last name will be going in our child’s name because I’m not married and still use my last name.” Things might differ now that they’re engaged, but it’s still up in the air. Meanwhile, one user pointed out, “He wanted that baby to have his last name!!!” hinting at Jacquees’ initial desire. Deiondra, however, seems to acknowledge that her son will carry both names, recognizing Jacquees has “worked very hard for his own legacy.”

Still, many believe the single Sanders name carries more weight. One person wrote, “Her last name holds weight, that’s the only benefit I see. Idk why ppl seem to think men automatically deserve to have the right to the child’s last name.” Another chimed in, “Lmfaoo I swear I was gone type this, he won’t that baby with that last name! 🤣 she ain’t slick though she knew what she was doing.”

With his four decades-long career as both a player and a coach, Deion Sanders has set the bragging rights for the Sanders name. Even his sons carry the legacy of being star players for the Colorado Buffaloes. Thus, one user even joked, “Jacquees ya wired foo yk you really don’t want to marry that woman only reason you really marrying her is bc you want the baby to have ya last name.” With all this name drama, one user wrote, “Let the last name race begin 😂” Just like everyone else, we’re all waiting to see how Jacquees and Deiondra decide to settle this one.
