Deion Sanders' reaction to becoming a granddad—Hilarious or heartwarming? What's your take?

Daddy Prime is about to step forth into grandparenthood, becoming Grandaddy Prime, if you will. This is a moment of immense joy for the family and while everyone is eagerly awaiting the day a new Sanders son is born, Deion isn’t too happy about the fact that he’s reached this massive milestone in his life.

Deion Sanders, the HC for the Colorado Buffaloes, is over 56 years of age. In his lifespan, he’s been decorated as one of the most successful athletes in American history. To date, Deion is the only athlete to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He has 2 Super Bowl championships to his name, along with a World Series appearance. With such a decorated career and a long list of accomplishments, he has seen it all, and yet, the thought of being a grandparent is something he’s not looking forward to as he refutes the enthusiasm in a recent live video.

On 2nd July, Deion came online and did a live video on Instagram to catch up with his fans and bless them with the pieces of wisdom he has an abundance of. A fan posed a question to him which asked Deion about his thoughts on becoming a first-time grandfather and his response wasn’t exactly joyous.

While being a bit upset about the question, Deion said, “ Don’t like it. Don’t love it but I do love my baby girl, Deiondra.” He further emphasized his love for Deiondra and mocked her habit of posting baby photos all the time. Deion added, “But I love my baby girl Deiondra. She probably posting a picture right now with a little baby inside of her stomach. You’ll probably see her posting a picture of the baby inside her stomach like that. Yeah, she ain’t playing.”

Thus, while Coach Prime isn’t too happy for himself, he is more than excited to witness the birth of his daughter’s bundle of joy, who might not be too far away from coming into the arms of the Sanders family. With all that said, Deion has always dreaded the thought of getting old and if we were to look at his interview with CBS, Deion seems to be running away from the title of ‘granddad.’

Have an interesting take?

The name of Coach Prime and what it means to the fans of college football is immortal and will be passed down from generation to generation. Deion’s impact on the sport of football itself has been etched into the Hall of Fame and as such, why should his age and body have limited bounds? This is exactly the message that Deion emits when he chooses to swat off the title of a grandfather.

On an episode of the CBS Mornings show on YouTube, Gayle King was seen teasing Deion about his grandfather status. To which, Deion hilariously said, “I don’t want to be a grandfather. I’m too young to be a grandfather.” Age catches up to us all and yet, Deion hasn’t yet received the memo. But one thing is for certain, Deion will continue to be the lovable Coach Prime he is, no matter how old he gets or how white the hair on top of his head turns.
