It is a very rare sight to see “Prime Time” being overshadowed. But that’s what happened when Colorado’s unofficial team “Governor” Camden Dempsey took the stage. As CU football launched its Women’s Clinic initiative, Dempsey, who recently defended Coach Prime after allegations over his behavior, took center stage and delivered a stirring speech.

Under Sanders, the Buffs are making attempts to drive community engagement. We saw an example of that with the Special Olympics camp not so long ago and now with the first annual Women’s Clinic which the program hopes to send a message of inclusivity.

On July 1st, Thee Pregame Show Network captured an exclusive tour of the Colorado Football facility, showcasing the inaugural annual Women’s Clinic hosted by Coach Prime. This event was designed to honor the contributions of women within the football program and to offer an immersive experience in the sport. Additionally, Coach Prime kicked off the event with a heartfelt introduction of Camden, Governor” Dempsey. The event also had an introductory meeting where the coaching staff, including OC Pat Shurmur and quality analyst Warren Sapp, presented themselves. Then Sanders introduced Dempsey and remarked, “This is our governor and we love him to life. Go get them, Mr. Governor.

With the stage set for him, Dempsey began his speech by acknowledging the amazing women in his life, stating, “I want to shout out my mom and sister for being here. They’re going to be your toughest competition today, so don’t expect you to hold any punches.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of community support, adding, “As a player, you get stuck in the locker room, looking at that number on the wall counting down to kickoff, and sometimes forget how much support you have behind you. Events like this remind us of that support and make it all worthwhile“.

Dempsey is a popular figure in Boulder and was in the news when he sided with Sanders after a rumor inferred Sanders cussed a player out and told him to clean his locker out using profanity. The LS rubbished these allegations and said, “From what I’ve seen in my time here at this program that is simply not true.” The respect between Dempsey and Sanders is mutual.

Earlier, in June, Sanders acknowledged the “Original Buffaloes” (O.B.s) of the Colorado football team. 11 players, mostly walk-ons, have remained with the team despite the significant changes since Sanders’ came to the program in December 2022. Giving a special tribute to Dempsey and making him the team’s spokesperson, Sanders said, “One day he is going to be a Governor, he’s going to be a Mayor, he’s going to be something… I believe in this man,” Sanders said.

Meanwhile, Coach Prime, known for his strong stance on women’s empowerment, aims to set the tone straight at Colorado – one that demands respect for women.

“When you pass by these beautiful young women,” Coach Prime message for Buffs players

The event started on June 25 with an amazing reception. Coach Prime warmly welcomed everyone by saying, “This is our first annual CU football Women’s Clinic, but we’re gonna call it a Five Star Clinic.” He further explained that the clinic is called five-star because of how good it is, adding, “In our world, we rank the quality of a prospect by stars, with one being the least and five being the most.”

Also, the event, designed to honor and empower women involved with the Colorado Football program, featured interactive drills and educational sessions on football tactics. In the video touring the facility, we could see all CU staffers personally introducing themselves to the female workers at Boulder. Of course, this is in line with Deion Sanders who made it clear how women should be treated. One thing I don’t condone is disrespect for a woman,” He said. “And calling a woman out of her name. So when you pass by these beautiful young women, I would say ‘ma’am’.”

As this initiative continues to grow, it sets a huge bar for other programs to follow, highlighting the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in all aspects of sports. Additionally, Coach Prime’s commitment to community and inclusivity is paving the way for a new era in Colorado Football and, more importantly, in Colorado Buffaloes.
