On June 16, Deiondra Sanders dedicated a heartfelt Father’s Day message to Coach Prime. Thank you for always having my back…” the mother-to-be wrote. “… for always putting me up on game and making me prob one of the most honest women ever!” One of the most honest women, she said. Well, she definitely had some honest words for Deion Sanders after he coined yet another nickname for his soon-to-be-born grandchild.

Ever since Deiondra announced her pregnancy in March, the anticipation for her baby’s arrival has given Coach Prime another thing to look forward to. And it looks like he’s as excited to be a grandfather as Deiondra is to become a mother. But for Coach Prime, ‘Lil’ Engine’ can’t come soon enough. Yes, that’s the nickname he’d given his unborn grandchild, but considering his Instagram update – which featured a new nickname – Deiondra may not have been on board with the first one.

When his daughter posted the Father’s Day message, Deion Sanders wrote, “I can’t wait for Lil baby to arrive. Lololol.” In his Instagram post from June 20, he seems to have divulged not only the expected delivery date (which may not be accurate) but also his new nickname. Sharing a series of photos of Deiondra, he wrote, “She [gonna] show that lil baby off. It’s almost time and how about she told me the baby is due on my birthday!” This seems like a sweet father-daughter exchange, but the latter part of the caption is what stirred Deiondra’s emotions.

“Y’all think she trying to get a Trust fund for lil Mite Mite?” Deion Sanders continued. Although this caption highlighted the beautiful (and sometimes hilarious) bond between Deion and Deiondra Sanders, it turns out this new nickname isn’t her favorite either. The mom-to-be commented, “Not lil mite mite!😭😂😩 Don’t do my baby [dirty]! Lol keep it cute,” expressing her disapproval. And why wouldn’t she, considering what “mite” means?

A minute arachnid that has four pairs of legs when adult and is related to the ticks. This is what a “mite” is. Considering this (and, in some parts, the fact that arachnophobia is the most common fear in the world), it’s not difficult to imagine why Deiondra Sanders isn’t on board with this nickname, either. At this point, she may actually prefer ‘Lil Engine’ over this. That said, she had her gender reveal party on May 18, and Deion Sanders was ecstatic after witnessing the whole ordeal virtually.

As Coach Prime watched Deiondra and Jacquees’ TNT pump explode with blue smoke, he exclaimed, “She’s gonna have a little boy, so the Lil Engine is gonna be a little boy!” Yes, Deiondra Sanders and her partner are having a son, and as excited as her father is for the arrival, he may have been off about the due date. Per his post, his daughter told him that ‘Lil’ Engine’ would arrive on Coach Prime’s birthday – August 9. However, that might not be the case.

After Deiondra Sanders went for her latest doctor’s appointment, she revealed that her baby was 28 weeks old. Seeing as a normal pregnancy lasts around 40 weeks, she still has at least 2 to 3 months before her son comes into this world. That would mean that the end of August and September will likely be an eventful time for Deion Sanders and his family, with the college football season starting then, too. That said, the 56-year-old has already made plans for his grandson.

Deion Sanders’ love for his unborn grandson

Coach Prime is known for ranking his kids publicly, and his kids’ actions impact their position on his rankings. But things could be about to change. Even before the baby is born, fans on social media are already speculating that the little boy will outrank each of the Sanders’ kids. A comment thus read, “Baby boy is going to come into this world and knock everybody out their rankings.”

Deion Sanders previously made a casual confession that he’s too young to be a grandpa at 56. The love for his grandson, whom he’s yet to meet, keeps growing as Deiondra Sanders moves closer to her expected delivery in early September. In anticipation of the arrival, Coach Prime declared, “We’ve already signed him up for soccer lessons. We’ve already got him enrolled with some of the best soccer coaches.” Seeing as he’s a college football coach (and a former player) and the fact that the Sanders family has now become a little synonymous with football, this revelation was a little surprising.

Whatever happens, though, it’s undeniable that Deion isn’t as excited as Deiondra Sanders for the baby’s arrival. Do you think ‘Lil’ Mite Mite’ will surpass all of Coach Prime’s kids and become No. 1 on his rankings? Share your thoughts in the comments!
