Shedeur Sanders is once again facing controversy due to his social media behavior. Just weeks after receiving backlash for his “mid” remark directed at former teammate Xavier Smith, Sanders is now under scrutiny for his recent exchange with former CU backup QB Gavin Kuld. As the feud unfolds and Shedeur’s draft stock takes a hit, Coach JB has stepped in with valuable advice for both Shedeur and his father/head Coach Deion Sanders.
During the May 18th episode of The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty, Jason Brown addressed the ongoing situation and urged Deion Sanders to mentor Shedeur properly. “He’s not the left guard; he’s not the backup corner; he’s not the fullback. He’s the quarterback; he’s your son,” JB emphasized. The coach expressed disbelief at the failure of the coaching staff to intervene and guide Shedeur in handling the pressures of being a high-profile athlete.

Echoing thе sеntimеnts prеviously sharеd by Tom Brady, who had advisеd Shеdеur to “spеnd morе timе in thе film room” to focus on building his skills and charactеr, JB urgеd, “For thе daddy and thе hеad coach to not gеt in front of this kid and say, ‘Enough is еnough, shut thе f**k up and do what Tom Brady told you to do. Go build your rеsumе thе right way and start lеarning how to bе an NFL quartеrback’—blows my mind. I am still kind of just struggling with thе fact that hе continuеs to bе out thеrе.” Shedeur is dealing with the consequences of his social media behavior, and JB’s intervention serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with being a quarterback.

It also highlights the crucial role that mentorship plays in shaping a young athlete’s career. However, while all fingers are pointing at Shedeur and Deion Sanders, Colorado faithful Uncle Neely has harshly criticized Gavin Kuld for his post-exit actions, especially his attack on Shedeur.
Uncle Neely on Gavin Kuld’s verbal attack on Shedeur
On the May 18th episode of the DNVR Sports podcast, Neeley stated that such impulsive and unprofessional actions could lead the former Buffaloes backup to a future as bleak as his teammate Cormani McClain’s. “You get the opportunity to play and show who you are, get to know Coach Prime, and your talent is evaluated,” said Neeley. “What opportunity did you not get? You got the same reps that everybody else in front of you got, and you didn’t make the most of them.”

Neeley suggested that Kuld could have leveraged his experience as a stepping stone to a better future. “So I don’t understand from the player standpoint. Why leave and burn bridges? The relationship capital you have with your coaches and your former teammates—you never know what that’s gonna mean five, ten, twenty years from now,” asserted Uncle Neeley.
Do you think Kuld’s statement was his way of burning the bridge, or did he finally speak for himself and his poor experience after leaving the program? Let us know in the comments!
