Since EA Sports College Football 25 dropped its trailer, its effect has been nothing less than dropping a bombshell. From Travis Hunter replacing Shedeur Sanders to Arch Manning stepping away, if the cover and trailer create so much tension, it intrigues what will happen once the game finally launches.

But as of now, Peyton and Eli Manning’s nephew has created much suspense regarding the real reason for staying away from the hype. The DNVR Sports podcast seems to have got some leads about the great cause.

Harrison Wind and Jake Schwanitz brought up the topic of Arch Manning’s deliberate attempts to avoid involvement in the video game. As Schwanitz starts his analysis with, “Arch Manning he is a big name he didn’t want to put into the game,” Wind steps in, scouting to find the reason. To calm his inquisitiveness, Schwanitz said, “He gave his reasons. He didn’t wanted to be a distraction.”

This came as a huge blow, as Arch decided to be the bigger person by stepping aside and allowing Quinn Ewers to claim the spotlight. “I think this why that Qwinn Ewers is the starting quarterback for Texas since he is on the cover, I think Arch was doing his boys solid and going if I go into the game people will probably be benching Ewers for me, so I am not gonna do that,” further elaborated Schwanitz. In his first season at Texas, sitting behind starting QB Ewers,  Manning hit 2 of 5 passes and ran thrice. However, Manning opting out of EA Sports College Football 25 does have some repercussions.

Manning’s decision to skip EA Sports costs him financially

With Manning focusing on playing football on the field, EA Sports will be left to create a computer-generated quarterback in a Longhorns uniform to fill his place on the roster. His absence will undoubtedly be felt in the game.

This decision will also cost Manning financially. He signed a partnership with Panini in July, with all proceeds from the trading card’s sale going to charity. Here comes another monetary blow: not taking part effectively forfeits a one-time payment from EA Sports. But he seems to pay no heed to money, as his NIL profits were all donated to charity. Even though he planned to stay out of the game, he is still considered one of the leading lights of college football’s new NIL landscape.

According to the reports put forward by On3 Sports’ NIL player rankings for the 2024 season, Arch Manning is worth $2.8 million in potential deals. While fans troll him on social media for his deliberate misstep, Manning keeps his head high by being No. 5 among all college athletes and No. 2 among college football players.
