Not many college football head coaches can surpass Nick Saban’s success on the football field. With nearly three decades of experience as a head coach, his overall coaching record stands at an impressive 292-71-1. While he may have found success everywhere he went, Alabama has always been the closest to his heart.

Retired Alabama HC Nick Saban was present at his former team’s A-Day Walk of Fame ceremony ahead of UA’s A-Day game, in which the Crimson Tide will play under their new coach Kalen DeBoer for the first time. Emotions ran high as Saban said, “This is the first time I’ve got to address a group and I’m not the coach. But I’m one of you. I’m one of the fans now.”

Nick Saban’s presence there gave hope to his former players, and he saw the hand-and-cleat ceremony for Jalen Milroe, Malachi Moore, and Dallas Turner. Saban’s daughter Kristen Saban was also in attendance, and she posted a sweet message about her father’s speech of gratitude to Alabama on her IG story. She uploaded a picture of her dad speaking at the ceremony and wrote, “Did I cry? Sure did.”

After his successful tenure with the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban took time off his retirement to speak to his players and fans. He said, “For 17 years of your support, which made the program what it is. When we stepped on this campus 17 years ago and there were 95,000 people for the A-Day game, that set the tone for what Alabama was gonna become and what this program was gonna become. And it was all because of you being a part of the team and the support that you gave us.” Nick Saban retired in January 2024 after leading the Crimson Tides to six national championships and nine SEC titles, among others, from 2007 to 2023. So what’s he up to after his retirement?

Nick Saban is still connected to the game after retiring from college football as the head coach. He is now an analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay, covering college football. However, aside from his professional career, he also seems to have found a happy place at home with his wife, Terry Saban, in retirement.

Nick Saban recently revealed that he contributes by doing small tasks around the house to stay on his wife’s good side so he can play golf. He said, “I make my bed, I take the garbage out, I have to wait for her to eat together,” when he was asked about his household chores. Life’s good for Saban before and post-retirement!
