The JJ McCarthy effect is in full swing after getting his team across the line by breaking the playoffs jinx. The QB scored three touchdowns in the victory against the Alabama Crimson Tide just two days ago. But his recent comments on sign-stealing practices have made him an instant villain! This is how quickly the tides turn today in the era of social media. Fans are even saying “Did he just agree to cheating” after the jersey no.9’s views.

Michigan was embroiled in their own sign-stealing accusations not too long ago. This made the Big Ten come down hard on them and the team had to fire their main instigator Connor Stalions. Furthermore, Jim Harbaugh had to even face a suspension. Now shedding light on the unfair practices, the QB admitted that sign-stealing was quite common. He said- “I also feel like it’s so unfortunate because, you know, there’s probably, I don’t want to say a crazy number, but I’d say a good number, 80% of teams in college football steal signs.” Football fans took social media by storm after this big statement.

While the Michigan player only pointed out how sign-stealing was done by several teams, the fans took the statement in a completely different direction. One of the X’s accounts run by Parlay Hub wrote-“Did he just admit to cheating?”. Another account was quick to point out the cheating and concluded- “So the players knew. Michigan cheated.” The Self-Paid Self-Made account knew about the claims that would come through following the comments. He wrote- Ohio State fans finna cook his A**”

There was another fan, perhaps from some other team who expressed his frustration. It was run by Harry Wood and he wrote-

They don’t care because they don’t think the NCAA can do anything to them. They think they are the greatest university to ever exist. Plus the team and university know the NCAA is going to hammer the program this offseason. So the coaches and starting players are leaving.” The hate was strong from another user who also expressed his animosity towards the team. He’s bragging about Michigan requiring an unfair competitive advantage over their opponents on the field because without it they are just another inconsistent mediocre program like they were for the last 20 years.”
