It was known that the Kansas City Chiefs would be trading up for a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft and as expected they made it happen by bringing in Xavier Worthy. The trade was interesting as it came from the Buffalo Bills, who moved down in round seven. However, this trade between the Chiefs and the Bills led to resurfacing of past wounds.

The last time the exchange between the Bills and the Chiefs took place was in 2017, which left the Chiefdom biting their nails in regret for Patrick Mahomes. Meanwhile, a question looms around whether Worthy is the new Hill.

Back in 2017, the Bills gifted the Chiefs the powerful quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. It was a grave mistake that the program performed in exchange for their No. 10 overall pick. Going to the Chiefs, the rest is history as Mahomes led Kansas to their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. The misstep still lingers to hurt the fandom so much so that questions have been raised regarding the latest recruitment of Worthy.

The Texas wide receiver was selected by the Chiefs with the 28th overall pick trading with the Bills. This left the Buffalo fandom furious, seeing the program seemingly repeating the same mistake as the last time. With this move, it can be assumed that Kansas City will use Worthy as the greatest weapon against the Bills. It means that Sean McDermott and the company helped their biggest threat bulk up a major position of need. No wonder Worthy is going to catalyze the future of a program that has already won back-to-back Super Bowls. Meanwhile, there has been much debate about whether Worthy’s numbers make him worthy enough to be Tyreek Hill’s replacement.

Hill showers Worthy with praise

Behind the Chiefs’ 2019 Super Bowl win, Hill made immense contribution. However, the program failed to keep the star wide receiver as he got traded to the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2022 season. Going by the records, it can be claimed that Kansas City has found the best fit for Hill’s position.

On March 2, Worthy shot to the limelight at Lucas Oil Stadium with his 40-yard dash record. He presented an incredible feat of 4.21 seconds and with this set a new high, breaking John Ross’ record from the 2017 NFL combine. With this astounding performance, Worthy immediately came under Hill’s radar. The best time that the Dolphins wide receiver made was 4.29 seconds. Being amazed at Worthy being better than him, Hill tweeted in honor of the speedy wide receiver, “4.21 is crazy sheesh”

Now that Hill himself has been taken aback by the young talent’s speed, there comes a stamp of approval in Worthy taking up his place as he steps into City Chiefs. It is now to be seen beyond the individual success whether Worthy can leave a mark in the Show-Me State.
