The star of the Buffaloes, Coach Prime’s favorite, and the leading force behind the glory of Colorado failed to make his mark in the top-10 rankings as per the newly released list of the top 100 players of 2024. With so much hype revolving around him and Shedeur Sanders, it almost came as a shock that both the franchise players were excluded from the list.

Deion Sanders, the coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, sounded a bit too confident when he predicted that his two-star players, Travis and Shedeur, would be in the top 3 NFL Draft picks for the 2025 season. Well, the season hasn’t started yet and already, the Buffs’ fans are slapped with the harsh reality that despite Hunter being in the center of the upcoming EA college football game, his numbers and talents rank way lower as compared to other players.

On 16th May, On3 broke down the top 100 players in college football for this season. As per the list, James Pearce of the Tennesee Volunteers is leading the pack with the likes of Missouri’s Luther Burden and Kelvin Banks from Texas, trailing right behind him. As for Travis, he couldn’t even crack the top 15.

Travis Hunter has been ranked at the 20th position and was nicknamed as, “America’s favorite two-way player.” Even though it’s not exactly a terrible position, it surely humbles the reputation of the same player who is predicted to have a 99 overall in the EA Sports’ College Football 25 game. Despite being touted as one of the best players in the 2024 class, the On3 snub will be a bar that the WR would want to outperform. Moreover, Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur, received a similar fate as he ranked worse than Travis.

Shedeur Sanders is in the 26th position as per On3

If you’re a college football fan in the slightest, you’ll be well aware of the fan following and the glamor that surrounds the Colorado QB- Shedeur Sanders. Additionally, he was ranked in the 10th position in last year’s Heisman race and thus, his being put in the 26th position in this year’s class almost seems to be a motivated vendetta.

Furthermore, this is what Clark Brooks, On3’s reporter who curated the said list, had to write about Shedeur Sanders. “A voluminous, high-floor passer with tight mechanics and ability to flip the ball vertically with little trouble. There are areas in Shedeur Sanders’ game to iron out, but he’s on everyone’s radar as a player to watch this fall – for a variety of reasons.”

The last part of Brooks’ review makes it seem like the QB will be observed closely because of the social media controversies that were attached to his name rather than his actual performance on the gridiron, which seems especially unfair to the youngster. Thus, the picture keeps becoming clearer and clearer that both Travis and Shedeur are being set up for failure with a constant environment of hate and snubs from lists such as these. All the more reason for Coach Prime to motivate his crown jewels and hopefully, help them win a natty in their last season with the Buffaloes.
