“The best non-QB player right now in college football,” was Joel Klatt’s praise for the two-way sensation in CFB among several others. Well, it’s Travis Hunter we’re talking about. Following Jim Thorpe’s and Deion Sanders’ two-way legacy, it’s Travis Hunter who is raising the bar and the temperature with his skills. A 6 foot 1, 185-pounder true sophomore scrimmaged for 436 snaps, and 30 tackles, added 3 interceptions and 5 pass breakups on the defensive side of the ball. The Paul Hornung award recipient signed off the season in style with his 57 receptions for 721 yards and five touchdowns on the offensive end. The jaw-dropping stats are not only a record that his coach Deion Sanders takes great pride in, it’s also something he capitalizes on to fuel the passion in other Buffs.
Hunter’s inexhaustible efforts have made him the guy who Coach Prime uses as an example for other Buffs players, especially the ones who are direly underestimating their talents. Jimmy Horn Jr, the WR at Buffs, is a 5 foot 8, 169-pound junior at Buffs, who needed a shot of motivation to get going in his drills. Prime had nothing else but Travis Hunter’s team leadership initiatives to refer to.

“You know what Travis said in the back of the meeting, ‘I got ’em’. So I want you to go, ‘I got ’em’. I want y’all fighting over that cat,” Prime said to the USF Bulls transfer. “You got to see it in you, though. I can’t just see it myself. You got to see it. Do you see it? See, all right, all right. Don’t talk about it, be about that all right,” Prime said to Horn Jr, Further, he iterated it to be the mantra to get to the first round of the draft.
Jimmy Horn Jr. and the 2025 NFL draft
The Buffs junior is expected to gear up for the NFL draft next season once his eligibility matures, joining predicted first-round picks like Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. John Jr’s stats have already undergone a steep incline since he joined Colorado a year ago.

In 2022 at USF, the WR scrimmaged for 37 receptions, 551 yards for 3 touchdowns. While in 2023 with Colorado, Horn ran for scoring 58 receptions in 567 yards for 6 touchdowns. Under Coach Prime, the WR is expected to hone his skills even further, breaking his 2023 records in the next season, especially since it’s the ‘redemption-on‘ season for the Buffs. What do you think Horn Jr’s performance would be like in the next season? Will he be able to stand against Travis Hunter’s stats and possibly in the 2025 NFL draft?
