Reach The People Media recently uploaded a YouTube video inside the Buffs’ training facility that captured an interesting scene between Coach Prime and Derrick McLendon. After spending four seasons at Florida State, McLendon transferred to Colorado after Coach Prime’s arrival. Although not a starter, he appeared in all 12 games and recorded 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Deion Sanders sent a recommendation message saying, “Scouts out there, I believe in this gem. All he needs is an opportunity. He’s going to work. He’s going to work.”

The 6’4″, 250-pounder has now declared for the NFL Draft after five years in college despite having a bonus year eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously wrote on social media showcasing his readiness, “The past five years of my collegiate experience have prepared me for this decision.” He’s leaving college football after posting an overall record of 71 tackles and seven sacks in 50 games with FSU and CU. As for the Buffs’ star treasures — Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter — they’ll have another season to end their college career with flying colors.

As potential Heisman Trophy contenders, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will remain Colorado’s gems for the 2024 season. Travis Hunter showed his ability as a two-way player by recording 57 catches for 721 yards. He also locked five TDs on offense, 30 total tackles, five passes defended, and three interceptions on defense. His versatility and receiver abilities earned him the prestigious 2023 Paul Hornung Award. Besides these two weapons, Coach Prime has rebuilt the Buffs’ roster, hoping the 2024 season will deliver the expectations that weren’t met last season.
