This fine taste of haute contour didn’t leave Deion Sanders even though he left the NFL 23 years ago. It has been following him ever since in his head coaching career too. His recent collaboration with Nike is a Prime example.

Sanders’s Nike collection, especially the Primes, flaunt a never-before-seen silhouette from the shoe Giant. It combines the Air DT Max ‘96-inspired upper — a previous signature shoe of his — with the ZoomX-backed sole unit of the Nike Invincible 2. creating another product and setting the market ablaze. The sales of the Prime have been skyrocketing since. Yet, he didn’t let the business acumen inside him overshadow the altruistic person present inside him, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for his fans to win some Primes. Deion Sanders has seen some tough days himself, right from building his empire from scratch despite belonging to a humble background and not being able to finish graduation from FSU to giving a life of dreams to his mama and kids. Deion Sanders’s contribution to HBCU

SI’s James Ewers, a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) reporter, highlighted the humanitarian contributions towards the HBCU colleges. Since Deion Sanders garnered power and prestige as THE black coach in the history of college football, he has strived to do his part in the upliftment of the black community through his endeavors at several HBCUs.

Sanders has built a reputation for grooming several minority athletes, majorly African Americans, igniting a cultural movement within the community. Per the Philadelphia Tribune, there were only 14 Black head coaches, or 10.5% of the 133 schools in the 2023 season, among which just eight of them were in a Power 5 conference, and none are in the (SEC) or Big 12. The numbers were grossly not proportional to the 50% of Black players on the Division I rosters. Even the coaching landscape witnessed a steep incline in the number of black coaches being hired like Sherrone Moore, Mike Tomlin, Todd Bowles, and DeMeco Ryans. So much so, that Ewers calls Deion Sanders the ‘Ambassador of HBCU’. What do you think about the title given the Deion Sanders?
