The news came as a shock to the Buffs team when their teammate Bishop Thomas was suspended for indefinite reasons for violating team rules in January. Amazon Prime’s ‘Coach Prime’, a documentary on Deion Sanders that aired recently documented it. “Thomas was suspended and his status for next season was ‘still being evaluated’ by Deion Sanders and his staff,” credited the series and Sanders confirmed with the news then. With the commencing of the spring session, the Buffs felt the void of the massive 6 foot 2, 305 pounds defensive tackle in their roster.

However, spring came in by bringing some good news for Deion Sanders and Co. as DT Bishop Thomas is back on the Folsom Field for the spring roster. However, what has come as a bigger surprise is Coach Prime not addressing Thomas’s suspension even now, after he is added back to the roster. Mainly because Thomas transferred from Florida State to play under Deion Sanders since his freshman year. This paired with Thomas being a ‘fan favorite’, per Prime Time for College Football because of his frequent appearances on Well Off Media, has impacted the team.

“He was somebody that people really enjoyed seeing on social media, on the well-off videos. They loved the way that he committed to coach Prime. They loved his energy, his excitement and so people were pretty taken aback by this,” the host claimed. With the spring ball being mere weeks away, fans are wondering whether Thomas would be joining the Buffs or not. While the roster is pretty stacked on their defensive line with the lavish recruits they have made, Thomas is someone who fans await to see on the gridiron, given his experience with Coach Prime.

Why Bishop Thomas is important for the Buffs

During the 2023 season, the CU defense suffered immensely, even struggling to stop players from running the ball. Deion Sanders admitted the fault in his Super Bowl interview and addressed it, saying, ” We’re going to do a few more things after the spring I’m pretty sure.” This is why Thomas’s addition to the spring roster and probably to the regular season roster becomes vital.

During the last season at Colorado, Thomas had 117 snaps, six tackles, and two tackles for losses and he also had a fumble recovery. Moreover, Thomas’ massive stature would be something Prime would capitalize on in his defense. Thomas’s familiarity with the Buffs’ defense paired with the fresh talent with the team is projected to make a worthy defense.
