Deion Sanders' hug with CU Buffs' MVP—Is this the most heartwarming moment in college sports this year?

Woah! That’s what you call a big achievement. Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders’ heart aches to bid farewell to his gorgeous MVP, Emily Antony. There’s enough reason to boast with pride. Why wouldn’t he? After all, Antony will now move outside Boulder and take up the Assistant Coach role somewhere else. It’s her proud moment, but Coach Deion’s chest is puffed out even more. That’s what you call a true leader! Finally, the leadership qualities he tries to instill within the Buffs pay off.

The Colorado Buffaloes HC has a radar to spot real talent, and yet again, it has been proved right. This time, it’s Colorado Buffaloes equipment room MVP Antony who made Deion proud. Sharing a video with her, Coach Prime gave her a shoutout on Instagram: “Our Equipment Room MVP has been Elevated, and we couldn’t be happier @emily_antony4. I’m so proud of you. Go Be Great. #CoachPrime.

Deion could not help but praise Antony, starting with, “She is the MVP, she really is. She loves what she does, she is passionate about it.” He then asked her to tell the Buffs fam where she was heading, and his voice boomed with pride. To which the MVP came up with a piece of news, “I am headed to Minnesota State Manketo, that’s where I played hockey in college and come back to be an assistant coach there.”

Until now, Deion only bore the prestigious title of “coach.” The time has come for his students to take up the role. “Assistant coach! She the girl from the equipment room to assistant coach,” stated an elated Coach Prime. He then gave Antony a warm hug and came up with a promise, “Of course, I am not gonna replace her. We gonna give somebody job but ain’t no replace her.” Is this a sign that Coach Prime’s game plan is finally winning big?

The power of Deion’s positive leadership

After all, Deion has a better understanding of the psyche of the younger generation since he himself rose from being a dual-sport athlete in college to being what he is today. Coach Prime, above all, is a coach with a vision that guides the Buffs on the right track. To him, dreams are meant to be big, as the Buffs HC once said, “If your dream ain’t bigger than you, there’s a problem with your dream.”

Hence, he played a notable role in shifting the mindset of the Buffs from one of doubt to one of possibility. The next most important thing is self-confidence. To quote Deion, “If you don’t believe in yourself, how will somebody else believe in you?” With this, he emerges as one true leader, always conveying confidence and giving that much-needed boost.

“I expect to be great. I expect to do what hasn’t been done. I expect to provoke change,” Deion has said. With this, even though it’s a hard goodbye for him and Antony, all he wants is the best for her in Minnesota State, and as a leader, by inviting change, he expects greatness from her. While Deion is yet to receive the green signal as a leader, little wins like this prove who’s hitting all the right notes.
